D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

Being entertaining kind of requires blatancy about it - your way of winning isn't entertaining if nobody knows it happened, right? At that point they aren't so much playing the games, as just goofing around in the Carnival, which is acceptable.

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

I can only speak wot what I am told, which is that isn't the case. Texas may be special in many ways, but their animals don't get sick in ways not seen in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas...

    Good Television Mystery Series

From what I've been told Hustle was probably a pretty solid inspiration for Leverage, but not having seen the British show I cannot comment on the differences. Leverage is, over all, light and positive TV. Person of Interest... isn't.

For vet med, as I understand it, it isn't that the test is hard, in an general way. It is hard in a coded way. Texas grads are effectively given a key, others aren't.

As a fan of both Person of Interest and Leverage... no. PoI is a much more seriously themed, written, and acted show than Leverage. Note: I am a fan of Leverage in significant part because it is less serious and grim.

    RPG Gear: Playing cards

PEG currently has a Sci Fi Action Deck, a Deadlands Noir Action Deck, Legends of Ghost Mountain Action Deck, Horror Companion Action Deck, Fantasy Action Deck, a Holler Action Deck, a Flash Gordon Double Action Deck. All oversized cards. Just not one for Lost Colony :(

Texas, however... is Texas. The state's just ornery. Like, that's how they roll for everything. For veterinarians, too. If you didn't go to Vet School in Texas, getting past their licensing exams are difficult, mostly because they include esoteric questions that Texas schools know to teach...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I don't imagine White Wolf wanted to risk Disney lawyers coming at them. But there was Lee Garvin's Gargoyles: The Vigil. https://archive.org/details/gargoyles-the-vigil/page/n5/mode/2up Edit to add: These days, I'd probably look at Big Apple Sewer Samurai for Savage Worlds...

Eh. Licensing for professional services has a role in consumer protection as large, or larger, than in protecting the investment in becoming a practitioner. It has the effect of protecting that investment, but I don't know if I'd call that a primary goal of licensing.

I was lucky, in that I'd seen and enjoyed the whole thing before I learned that. And, I won't say it is a reason for anyone else to not enjoy it. It would just make a re-watch kind of weird for me right now.

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone mentioned that SRD5.2 got no Knight?

They would also have to track down every copy of the material & license in both print and electronic formats and destroy them. Even if they killed everyone, if one day I found a thumb drive with it on there, it would arise and live again, like Captain America free of the ice.

D&D 5E (2014) According to the Hasbro Q1 earning call D&D sales are up substantially.

Hey, folks? This thread isn't about Shadowdark. Keep it on topic, please.

How Much Do You Care About Form Factor/Book Size?

I am at a point where I care about print size more than page size. I prefer that smaller books not be so thick that they have no hope of lying open. My Savage Worlds books are like 6.75" by 10.5" and they seem to work fine.

    RPG Gear: Playing cards

I'm doing Deadlands... in Space! If I don't have characters racing across an alien landscape on giant lizard mounts and speeder bikes, or dodging around in an asteroid belt, I'm not doing my job right. :)

Person of Interest is awesome, but it only starts as mystery, and eventually converts itself into a scifi/spy thriller. I also have some issues of separating art and artist for someone on the show, but that's my problem.

With respect, this argument relies upon the idea that commerce operates such that people who do good work will always get their due in the end, without any action on anyone's part. In effect, it relies on the idea that commerce is a meritocracy, and justice will prevail. That's demonstrably...

Don't teach your grandmother to suck eggs. Your two sentence description elides over their actual operation. They are "inspired by" much in the same way TV shows and movies are "inspired by real events" - which means that ultimately they don't really resemble the inspiration in ways that...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I know I played a bunch of games during the 90s. I haven't seen any evidence suggesting to me that was the norm, though.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

In the words of one moderator emeritus: "Tell me about how awesome your game is, WITHOUT comparing it to any other game." One can see the idea - if you tear down your competitors, you will look better by comparison. But you kind of have to act like a jerk who tears down other creations in...
