    Green-Flame Blade = magic weapon?

And the resistance rules didn't mention source before, only if a weapon was magical or not. To keep greenflame blade working the same, we must continue to assume that the "normal effect" of being hit with a nonmagical weapon is nonmagical damage. I will again mention that the rules still do...

    Green-Flame Blade = magic weapon?

My impression is that the intention of the MM errata is to make it clear that resistance will also protect against nonmagical attacks that are not from weapons. So I believe we should prefer any reading of the rule of which attacks are magical that does not let an attack pierce resistance if it...

    Green-Flame Blade = magic weapon?

The errata doesn't say "granted", it says "delivered". The attack may be granted by a spell but the damage is delivered by a weapon attack and as such will count as nonmagical damage unless the weapon used is magical.

D&D 5E (2014) Vampiric Touch Opportunity Attack Ruling?

"melee attack" is not an action, it is just an attack. Some actions such as the Attack action and the Opportunity Attack reaction let you make melee attacks, but that doesn't make the attack itself an action. (WoTC resusing the word "attack" for both the attacks themselves and the Attack...

D&D 5E (2014) Am I reading the Mind Flayer attack right?

The "mind flayer" has that name for a reason, it will flay your mind given half the chance.

D&D 5E (2014) Vampiric Touch Opportunity Attack Ruling?

You honestly think the rules for opportunity attacks are more specific than the rules for one particulare spell? Why not let a caster who also has the Extra Attack feature attack with Vampiric Touch twice per round then? The rules for the Attack action are about as "specific" as the opportunity...

    D&D 5E (2014) State of D&D

What I want is to be able to get self contained modules on the scale of LMoP that are good for 3-5 sessions and that I can slide into my current campaign. Neither the massive adventure paths nor the AL stuff fits my need.

D&D 5E (2014) WotC 5e products, published or announced, as of end of 2015?

This is just plain wrong. When you license out an IP the licensee is the one marketing and selling the product. They take all risk of potential losses and keep any profits, minus the license fee. Outsourcing on the other hand means that a company is paid an amount of money to produce a specific...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ability check & Proficiency skills

If you're allowed to use atlethics or another skill it will always say so, so in this case it is pure strenght only.

You can however replace an attack with an attempt to shove the grappler. If you shove them out of reach, you automatically break the grapple. It's often a better way to get out of grapples than taking the action. I don't think shoving will work against being engulfed or webbed though.

D&D 5E (2014) LMoP (spoilers) - Why need map for final location?

It's not easy to navigate in the wilds without a map, and it would suck to find the Lost Mines of Phandelver just to Lose them again because you lost track of how to get there. :) Gundren probably refuses to leave Cragmaw Castle without the map because he doesn't want to leave it behind to be...

D&D 5E (2014) Life Cleric Multiclass armor prof

Why not just ban multiclassing completely if you're going to withhold proficiencies characters need to make good use of their new class features? Multiclassing is an optional rule after all, there's no harm in not using it in your game.

Such harsh accusations should be backed by fact, not belief, no matter how "strong". Do you have any quotes to prove that the same people are arguing the way you claim?

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

It's not defined anywhere, but it seems to be how the game is using the term. If you read the rules with "instant=less than one round" then all the "issues" about instantaneous spells that are troubling you so much go away.

D&D 5E (2014) Life Cleric Multiclass armor prof

The main question is why did they decide to limit heavy armor proficiency from multiclassing at all? Heavy armor is strong, but not so strong that it's worth taking a level in another class just for that, and you can get around the restriction by starting in the right class. I can see the need...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

What is broken? A Battlemaster can do the same thing with a bow. It's time to acknowledge that Elldritch Blast is fine the way it is, regardless of this ridiculous debate about the meaning of the word "instant" and the finer timing of magic.

D&D 5E (2014) One or Two Fights a Day Encounter Design

I suggest giving monsters max instead of average hp. With few encounters per day the players can Nova every fight and quickly kill any level appropriate monsters. Simply using higher level monsters gives a high risk of a TPK due to bad luck, but making monsters a bit more durable lets them be...

D&D 5E (2014) Warlock Higher Level Spellcasting: Too easy to counter/dispel or effective?

That's been my take on the warlock. He's a ranged striker who can cast some spells for support and utility. They may have just a few spell slots, but wasting high levels slots hurts other casters more since they only get a few per day, warlocks get theirs back after a short rest. A wizard...

D&D 5E (2014) Warlock Higher Level Spellcasting: Too easy to counter/dispel or effective?

But where is the problem in this? Nothing wrong with having to change your tactics sometimes. Do you include an enemy caster in every fight? Then I can see your caster PCs getting frustrated that their spells are always counterspelled. Do the martial characters in your party lack ranged attacks...

D&D 5E (2014) Warlock Higher Level Spellcasting: Too easy to counter/dispel or effective?

What kind of experiences are you hoping for? My experience is that an NPC caster can easily shut down any PC caster class using counterspell, warlock or wizard both are equally hit. What makes you feel this is a problem specific to warlocks? The action economy is the main factor here. An enemy...
