1) Grimtooth is one of those RPG books that is much more enjoyable to read than actually use. 2) IMO White Plume Mountain is an excellent example of traps done well. Some obstacle traps, some puzzle traps, and most are different/fun/unique environments to fight a monster.

The abilities work off of Hit Dice. When you gain levels in Fighter or Wizard or whatever you gain Hit Dice. So, Yes a Fighter 10th level Half-Fiend will be able to cast Contagion (as well as other abilities) as a spell like ability. Whichever way ends up being closer to the original I suppose.

At the time I used it most of it. Since I subscribed to Dragon there really wasn't a whole lot of completely new stuff, repackaged and updated, but not completely new. But... I must not have used it very much. Because my binding is still intact.
