Sounds like the 2nd edition thieves ability to hide in shadows. Whats so wrong about that?

Wish can only give you what is listed in the spell description, which I am fairly certain does not mention repeling demon invaders. Perhaps you are thinking about 2nd edition, where the spell was much more powerful.

The simple solution to this problem is to not allow players to have evil characters in your campaign.

We never have more than four players, so having more than one DM is not an option.

If you need some more players, you can try posting in the message board at this site. I know there are some people there looking for a game.
