Mapping in Photoshop (sent here from Software)

Masked

First Post
I've just started using photoshop 7.0 and would really like to learn to use it to map out the central town for my campaign. I've got basic line drawing down, and I've learned how to use the grid feature a little, but ...

It's not ready to be used yet. I'm hoping I can drop a couple of questions here and there and get some help. I'll start with ...

1) Can I make arched lines? Like quarter circles, etc.?

2) Can I make wavy lines by picking waypoints?

3) Can I change the size of the grid?

Thanks for any help!

You can make anything you want with the paintbrush tool or the pen tool. The pen tool is particularly useful for making very precise perfect curves like the arches or curvy lines you mentioned.

Doesn't photoshop have vectors, though?

Unless I'm missing something, the pen tool doesn't do this for me ... unless by some miracle I learn to draw perfect arcs with my mouse.

That's not going to happen. <g>

So ... how?

One thing you can do is make a circle with the shape tool or the marquee tool and then erase what you dont want. For wavey lines try using liquify filter or the distort filters.
Hope this helps.

As photoshop as started to integrate vector it's still a pixel proggy. While illustrator on teh other hand a full vectoriel proggy.

I do all of my professional cartography in Photoshop. I respect the usefulness of vector tools, but I couldn't imagine doing my work in Illustrator. (Or in anything else, for that matter.)
