Bump! Can someone give me the rundown on prices for GT and Gurps 4th Ed?

Thanks for the responses, keep it coming! Grim Tales and M&M seem like good choices to me, but I want more feedback on how they run. I want grim and gritty rules, so how good are the GT ones? I might be able to get three or four books, so recommend away. :)

I'm looking at several titles, looking for new ways to run the game: Mutants & Masterminds, Arcana Unearthed, BESM d20, and d20 Future. Which one has been the best in play for you? Which one seems the most flexible? Innovative? etc?

Theres a book called Elements of Magic that you should check out, if you don't want to buy anything they have a teaser PDF with most of the rules in it. It has a point-based system for making almost any kind of spell.

Does it need to be north? You could have them explore the arctic wastes, encountering frost elves/goblins/whatever, investigate reports of Finnish witchery (the Finns are sneaky like that), or sail to Russia on a trading expidition through the Arctic Sea.

The setting I'm working on will be more late midieval time-wise, with imperialism and small states/clans competing. It will be a world of islands and small continents, with many wild and unexplored places (plot hook plot hook!) and a weird feel im not sure i even understand yet

Dragon saved me again, by making grippli as a race. My mechanics, looking back on it, were really screwed up. Anyways, I'm hoping to incorporate myconids and grippli as core races with their own backgrounds and cultures.
