    Leverage: Redemption

Just finished watching with my wife. Feels as much like a D&D party as the original did (maybe moreso now with the rotation of characters). Considerably more episodic than I was expecting, but if it’s only half a season, I’d expect more of an arc to emerge in the latter half (not that there...

Thoughts on the rebooted He-Man (Netflix)

What makes you think Adam will be back by the end of part 2? I agree he might but I didn’t see any evidence that suggested it. I only watched it once, though. Maybe I missed something?

Thoughts on the rebooted He-Man (Netflix)

Gotcha twist? Marvel just used that same move 3 times in Loki (if you include the reshown Avengers footage of Loki killing Coulson). Seems like a trope on its own by now. Sure, it subverts what the audience is expecting based on previous story beats, but it also does a fine job of...

    IRON DM General Discussion

So…is this going to be a thing? We’re getting pretty close to the point when we want to start the actual tournament in motion. Maybe we (that is, IRON DM enthusiasts) could develop the format of this spin-off further with the intent of doing a Spring 2022 debut?

D&D General Wizards of the Coast releases pay-for-download PDFs of The AD&D 2E Complete Starter Set, Bloodspawn (Birthright) and both Savage Coast books (Mystara)

I purchased both the dark sun and planescape boxed sets as pod from dm’s guild. Both came as single soft-sover books that included maps and dm screens chopped up and printed over multiple pages within (on both sides of pages, too) in a fairly unusable format. Otherwise good purchases, though.

D&D 5E (2014) What is one hp of damage in real life?

One fourth of a cat scratch?

Sharon isn’t a skrull. If she were, she wouldn’t have needed to use that mesh face-mask she disguised herself with (the kind Natasha used in Winter Soldier).

    Falcon and winter solider

On a slightly different topic, we’ve got two episodes left to find out if Zemo goes after Isaiah Bradley. He was definitely listening while Sam and Bucky talked about him on the jet. Also, if Old Cap is still alive and Zemo finds out, he’ll probably want to finish him off, too. Zemo on the...

So, you’re saying supers don’t get to surrender? That seems like a terrible precedent to set. Morally and practically.

    Falcon and winter solider

@AcererakTriple6 took the words right out of my mouth (and presented them more articulately than I would have) in response. Killing a surrendered enemy is murder, even in war. The brutality isn’t as much the point. The scene pretty closely mirrored the climactic scene from Civil War. Notably...

    Falcon and winter solider

Is it? I think by now it’s only about 2.5 to 3 years ahead.

    Falcon and winter solider

Again. No. As I said before, I am only talking about the characters as presented in the show. I see what I see. If you guys don’t see it, that’s probably intentional on the part of the creators. I’m betting you will by the end of the series because, structurally, I don’t know why they would...

    Falcon and winter solider

Or – and bear with me, because I’m going out on a limb, here – it could be that the point of nuance is that different people within the audience will see different things based on their own perspectives and experiences. In an ideal world, those people would then congregate on (for example)...

    Falcon and winter solider

I guess it might, but I’m not personally applying any. Everything I’m talking about is stuff they’ve put on screen. It is nuanced and sometimes subtle, of course (thus, not blatantly obvious, and, thus, disputable). But the other thing it has been is consistent. His interactions reflect it and...

Exactly. Tropes are an obstacle to actually understanding the art.

    Falcon and winter solider

Tropes aren’t real. They are arbitrary categories whose purpose is only a shorthand that allows the audience to assume they understand a work of art without actually looking closely at it. When one of the two of us is proven correct about Walker, it won’t be because the show followed or...

    Falcon and winter solider

Every single interaction he’s had with Sam and Bucky (and Bucky’s therapist) has been a power play in which he has made it clear that he’s the guy with power and he will use that power to get what he wants. Literally every single interaction. That is exactly the kind of thing Cap spent his...

    Falcon and winter solider

And I think also Sam and Bucky both recognize that Walker misunderstands something fundamental about Steve Rogers. Walker thinks Rogers was driven because he has guts, but that’s not quite right. Rogers really disliked bullies. Walker, on the other hand, fundamentally is a bully.

    So, Wandavision?

The kids are irrelevant. Hayward continued to shoot at (an unarmed) Monica after she had moved to protect them. He had time to stop shooting. He chose not to. He only stops because his gun is empty. Which we know because he pulls the trigger twice more while aiming at Monica. In real-time...

    So, Wandavision?

She said she wanted to find out who was using so much power. Also, we see from Ralph’s utility bill (in his name) that he had been living in her house for months. Conclussion: Agatha took over the residence when she moved in and magicked Ralph into her servant (eyes and ears, she calls him)...
