    Hacamuli, Demonic Messenger of Orcus!

Yes, that would be awesome. His series of articles on undead that ran for years and years in Dragon was one of my favorite things ever. Lots of cool monsters there. Right now I'm working on a conversion of the casurua, which is a poltergeist-like undead that I had much fun with in a session of...

Pathfinder 1E OGL Sources of Monsters for Pathfinder (Avadnu?)

All of the Tomes of Horror would be fantastic sources of monsters for Paizo. Great design, 100% open. Green Ronin's Book of Fiends would also be a great source of demons, devils, and daemons. Well, maybe not demons -- that section was written by some Mona guy no one has ever heard of. I wonder...

    Hacamuli, Demonic Messenger of Orcus!

In honor of the late, great Tom Moldvay I've cleaned up my conversion of the obscure demon prince Hacamuli, updated him with info from the Fiendish Codex I, and posted to my website: http://home.gwi.net/~rdorman/frilond/rul/dm/hacamuli.htm Tom had a couple of nasty undead monsters that I might...

    DRAGON Magazine monster index!

Based on some very sharp sleuthing over at Dragonsfoot (http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23110), it appears that the Barghest from issue 26 should actually be attributed to Tom Moldvay, not Gygax. There is a note at the end of that issue's Dragon's Bestiary column stating that...

Moderator's Reminder: Keep things civil [EDIT: UPDATED BY MORRUS - FINAL WARNING]

Yeah, I'm really not sure how useful it will be to have WotC guys post here right now -- I don't think they will be able to write anything worth reading right now, and I don't think very many people are ready to read much from them objectively. I'm sure the WotC employees who would like to post...

    Lamp of Shadows

Thanks. For some odd reason, Volume 2 of the Encyclopedia Magica was not made available as a PDF (though volumes 1, 3, and 4 are).

    How much would D&D cost?

If $30 million for the brand is anywhere close to accurate -- and that was the number kicked around a few years back -- the payback period for that investment would be ginormous given the relatively low profits of even a top-selling RPG. It would probably take a decade to make that money back...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Wow, this is sad news. One thing's for certain -- Dunegon and Dragon aren't going out with a whimper. Both mags, in my mind, are right now the best they have ever been, in any era, for any edition. They will be missed. Best of luck to Paizo.

Tom Moldvay passes away (see post #52)

A great loss. His basic set was my introduction to D&D.

Sell me on Wizards books published since Complete Divine

I think you would enjoy the Fiendish Codex series.

    Greatest roll ever

The best roll for my current group came in our last session before we went on hiatus. I was running the group through a conversion of the old G/D series of modules, and the 12th-level PCs had just sacked the Fane of Lolth and had stolen one of the Temple's ships when they ran into a powerful...

    Lamp of Shadows

This is a magic item, evidently from Encyclopedia Magica Vol. 2. Anyone know just what this thing does?

Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #2 is Up

Outstanding insight. These changes look to be exactly what I've wanted in a d20 skill system.

    Got Mordiggian?

    Yes! Many thanks.

    Got Mordiggian?

Mordiggian, the Charnel God, is one of Clark Ashton Smith's many fine contributions to the Cthulhu mythos, and is described in the the d20 Call of Cthulhu book. But I swear I saw a treatment of Mordiggian in a recent D&D book, or maybe an issue of Dungeon or Dragon. Or am I crazy?

    Unholy Toughness

I don't think unholy toughness is quite worth a +1 to the CR for most undead. It depends on the number of HD and the Cha bonus. If the ability provides 3 or less hp, it's not worth as much as Toughness, a rather weak feat, so probably isn't worth +0 CR or LA. If the ability provides more than...

What do you think of the Duskblade?

I had a player with a duskblade for most of my converted G3 and D1-2-3. In general, the class seemed pretty good, but what really made the character shine in combat were his use of new spells from the PHII and SC that focused on tactical movement and swift actions. The regroup spell alone saved...

SRD monsters in the new statblock format

This is one of the weirder things in the 3.5 update -- in 3.0, derro were humanoids, a subrace of dwarf and as such spoke Dwarven and Undercommon. 3.5 severed their ties to dwarvendom, but didn't do anything about languages. I believe the derro statblocks in Dungeon gives them Undercommon...

R1: To the Aid of Falx - Reviews?

That's a huge surprise to me -- a Samuel Johnson reference sounded right up Frank's alley. For that matter, there are a few other changes made to the supermodule version that evidently were radically different than anything in the original text. A major character, for example, switches sides at...
