E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

The only one of those that I've seen frequently used is greater invisibility, and it wasn't too much of a problem. I suppose that could change, but... Although looking at divine power... heck, why bother with a fighter?

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Maybe I just haven't had enough playtime to see this, but I don't see too many troublesome 4th level spells, with the possible exception of scrying. Maybe we just don't use them. Have you seen otherwise? Which ones? Edit: This is especially true if you use the WotC Extra Spell Slot/Known...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Crystal Keep has a feat index for most of the WotC splats, along with the gist of what they do (so it's actually useful, as opposed to WotC's own index).

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

One positive thing about E8, though, is that it requires fewer changed/new feats to allow the higher level stuff that people seem to want (Improved Crit, Greater Weapon Focus, Large wildshaping). If you don't want more 4th level spells, then you can use the Extra Spell Slot/Known feats from the...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (new revision)

Well, I'd say it's pretty close to 3. 1. 3 extra feats at first level is probably about ECL +1. I'm no expert here; it's just a gut feel. If you buy Unearthed Arcana's argument that the benefits for an ECL +1 race start to pale in comparison to the level adjustment around level 3 (and thus...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (new revision)

Conviction Have you used Conviction to dual-roll (and take the higher) or re-roll anything other than d20s, like weapon/spell damage? I've seen crits at key moments flop, doing much less than regular max damage, and 10d6 spells do 14 points of damage (save for 7). I could also see a desire to...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

I think that it really depends on what levels you and your players enjoy the most. For me, as a DM, I think the sweet spot starts around 5th level and goes through 8th (although I have to admit to enjoying building up to 5th as well). I was planning on using the concept of E6, stretching it to...

    New feats (considered for E6)

That's still a bit much. For the sorcerer, that's two feats for the price of one.

    New feats (considered for E6)

Not to be pedantic, but a wizard-6 couldn't take this feat, as they have an equal number of 1st and 2nd level spells. ;) Personally, I think I'd stick with Extra Slot & Extra Spell (both from Complete Arcane) and just add the feat that you did for your E6 campaign that lets you weave/unravel...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Requiring Weapon Specialization isn't enough, though. That just requires fighter-4. I've been thinking about it, and really, the only reasons to stick with fighter past 4th are the high number of feats and the higher level fighter-only feats. When you stop at 6th, and everyone eventually gets...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

That's a good idea. It's probably a good idea for standard D&D, too. IIRC there are rules for rituals in UA. Those should be able to handle any "epic" casting for E6, too, if you need it.

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

I was thinking about something similar this morning, only ending at 8th level. The problem I saw, though, is that it kinda screws the sorcerer compared to the wizard (in your example, he'd have to wait 20k xp for that next level of spells). EDIT: rycanada beat me to it.

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Spell Advancement (3) would allow a Bard to cast third level spells (normally not available until 7th level). I was thinking that, too. If you allow multi-class casters to recover, then you're really encouraging multi-class casters, since eventually they'll be as good as single-class casters...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

It seems like a level of spellcasting is a bit much for a feat. I'd imagine that say, a Brb-5/Wiz-1 + 5 (all Improved Spells Per Day) would be considerably more powerful than a Brb-6 + 5 or a Wiz-6 + 5. Did it not work out that way? Do you have feats to raise BAB if it is less than +6? By...

    A dozen metamagic cantrips (meta-cantrips?)

What level are your player's at? I looked at those when I get Unearthed Arcana, and thought they were outlandishly expensive. Just looking at acid arrow, you can add empowered for 1200gp. You could get a scroll of empowered acid arrow at 12th level for that price. Cheaper, if you're willing...

    A dozen metamagic cantrips (meta-cantrips?)

I do, too. Really, I've played with this idea several times in the past, but until recently I was DMing and the PCs wouldn't have been interested so I hadn't bothered to flesh it out. I'm playing at the moment, though, so when the idea presented itself again I chose to flesh it out. Once I'm...

    A dozen metamagic cantrips (meta-cantrips?)

That's more or less my thinking as well, which is why I originally worded it the way I did. However, true strike is worded differently (implying that that thinking may not be accurate), so I thought it best to change the wording to match.

    A dozen metamagic cantrips (meta-cantrips?)

It deals its damage all at once, but 1 point is continuous damage rather than instantaneous damage. Basically, the targets take damage as normal, but lingering sparks/flames/whatever force the targets to make DC 10 Concentration checks (DC 10 + 1/2 * 1 damage) to do things that require...

    A dozen metamagic cantrips (meta-cantrips?)

Part of the limiting factor for these spells is availability. Without house rules, for example, a wizard will never get more than 4. House rules in my current game grant a number of bonus 0-level spells equal to your primary spellcasting ability modifier. Does that make these more/less...

    A dozen metamagic cantrips (meta-cantrips?)

Actually, you can't. Casting True Strike is a standard action, as is making a single attack. So you cast True Strike this round in order to get a bonus next round. Shouldn't a 0-level spell be decidedly less than a feat? Edit: spelling
