RPG Podcasts - What do you listen to?

Chronicles, The Pathfinder Podcast It's pretty much the only RPG podcast that i listen to and look forward to. As much as I like Steel and Azmyth their personalities (at times) can be a little grating and I definitely disagree with some of the ways that they approach running games but that's...

Do you want/are you ready for a D&D 5th edition?

Is in nessecary? For me no. For WOTC? Maybe? Is it desired? For me? HELL NO. Ive pretty much come to the conclusion that once I got off of the D&D / WOTC wagon I have no inclination or desire to go back.

    Getting away from miniatures.

I really never think with most things it's either one way or the other. Same thing with gaming. I use minis (Paper standees or otherwise) for combats. They are great for clarification especially on most matters spatial. There's no "youre within range of that fireball" "No, I'm not!!" "Yes you...

Hero Lab - do you use it?

Same here. Once it comes out I can get rid of both Parallels and Windows 7 from my MacPro and get all that precious HD space back...

    Downsizing what I play with

When I got my iPad it's been a lot easier to cart around a whole mess of books for reference, but still when we do allow anything out of core in the game the player is responsible for making sure that they have the information handy for reference during the game. Usually I just point them toward...

    Downsizing what I play with

Yeah, that's pretty much how I see it as well. Whether or not someone wants to go into semantics about your use of the word "reason", I'd like to think the average person knew what you meant by that and didn't need to to try and circumvent the point. I think several people here have already...

    Downsizing what I play with

Again, here the not so subtle inference that not using all available options makes one a less than capable GM. Unless I'm reading too much into what you're saying here. As I stated before, the entire table (that's five players and one GM) are having more fun with the core + case by case basis...

    Downsizing what I play with

Food for thought for whom? I DM more than I play (I dont think that I've played for YEARS now) and I find that sticking with core and letting other things in on a case by case basis works excellently for my groups. My players who i've been running games for monthly for about 2 - 3 years are fine...

Down to one at HERO GAMES...

Is this pretty much the end of HERO GAMES as we knew it? I was a big fan of theirs during 4th and 5th Edition. It's kinda sad to see them diminished like this...

    New york gamestores?

I think that if the CS sold only RPG's they would have gone out of business years ago. The fact that they sell all sorts of boardgames, miniature games and other game related stuff I think really keeps them in business. I also think with the advent of online retailers who can sell the same...

    New york gamestores?

Retail space in Manhattan, hell in the five boros period is extremely expensive. Over the last 10 years here there have been huge big box stores going out of buisness and so many empty store fronts here in NYC. Not to mention stores that open one day and are gone in two to three months. That...

If WotC Released D&D 3.75 Tomorrow....

I'm already deeply invested in Pathfinder which actually allows me to (with some minor conversion work) use my 3.5 resources with minimal fuss. A WOTC 3.75 can offer me NOTHING that I dont already have from available resources (Unearthed Arcana, Trailblazer, etc..). Online character monster...

    Top 5 RPGs--Summer 2011

Paizo gets the love it does because they seem to want to listen to their fans. They may not always AGREE with what their fans have to say but they do listen. Also Paizo gets love because some of us (I'm guessing at this point ENOUGH OF US) didnt want to play 4E as our FRPG of choice and were...

    What are the new 'Classics'?

For me the one adventure that I can honestly say may deserve "classic" status are Age Of Worms Part One - THE WHISPERING CAIRN. Holy Crap was that a good module to run (and for my players at the time) a good one to play in. I would also nominate a few of the Necromancer Games mods - Tomb of...

What is your "perfect" sized gaming group?

My group is 5 players and me as GM. I find that's a perfect size so that if one or two people cant make it I can still run a game with 3 players (provided that it's not a climax or building toward a climax then I like to have everyone present).

    Legens&Lore: Monte Cook takes over

HELL YES. I'll never forget the time when my players came across a group of orcs picking off what was left of a caravan and thought that because they were 3-4th level characters that is was going to be a cakewalk. Right up until the Orc leader flipped out and went all RAGEY on them and his...

3.5e/Pathfinder fans tell me what you think about essentials

This question ideally would make sense if posed towards people who are playing BOTH 4E and Pathfinder. I'm pretty much in the Pathfinder camp and dont / won't play 4E. Tried it and didn't much care for it. So, Essentials is STILL 4E. Not a huge fan of 4E. Hence not a fan of Essentials...

    4e and me

Exactly. I dont play 4E but i dont go around randomly bashing it either. I've been following Mike Mearls articles not because I'm interested in taking following in the direction where they might be taking 4E but because they are interesting articles. But to declare "play what you like" then...

    4e and me

Hey!! That was a pretty clever snipe at Pathfinder there! Keep it up! We should all take clever jabs at games we don't like or play! Except for 4E OBVIOUSLY! So keep up the good unifying work there!

    I miss print magazines.

Kobold Quarterly Be warned, there are systems other than Pathfinder that are supported (4E & Dragon Age most notably) very much like how Dragon didnt only support whatever the official version of D&D was at the time...
