We generaly play long running games, interspersed by shorter 1-3 session games - so for the shorter games I tend to let my players start out higher. For the long campaigns, though, its almost always level 1.

I haven't especially noticed what you are saying because on most other forums I've been on 100 posts is a significantly larger amount than it is here. On ENWorld, 100 posts is nothing.

I think it's maybe a better fit to think about RPG gaming compared to a TV/Drama series rather than a movie. Loads of good series have at least a few main characters, who develop, swap round, fade away, get killed off etc.

Be interesting to see the varying degrees of tactics and description that different groups go into. How much actual tactical movement takes place in your combat sequences and how much detail d you tend to go into describing your actions?
Whoops... Bummer, I should have made myself clearer. What I mean is I want to run a campaign starting from 1st and then moving up to higher levels. By "Epic" I meant one that has huge consequences for the PCs actions and with some big earth-shattering scenarios. Sorry.
