    D&D 5E (2024) Stealth Errata

I mean, he certainly can by RAW, as far as I can tell. I don’t think most DMs are going to rule in accordance with that, but I’m now very confident that it’s what the text of the rules says is supposed to happen.

    D&D 5E (2024) Stealth Errata

Yeah, and doing that, it looks like the ways you stop being hidden are attacking, casting a spell, making a sound louder than a whisper, and a creature “finding you,” which is undefined, except that the creature can find you by succeeding at a Wisdom (Perception) check with a DC equal to the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Stealth Errata

I think the fact that they introduced this errata and still haven’t defined any way for you to stop being hidden besides a creature finding you, or any way for a creature to find you other than succeeding on a Wisdom (Perception) check only further confirms my suspicion that it is, in fact...

    D&D 5E (2024) Stealth Errata

This errata still doesn’t address the underlying issue of not defining how a creature is supposed to find you.

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

Hey, here's a cool thing I came across that seemed worth sharing with the folks here.

D&D 5E (2024) Multiclassing: Slots and Prepared Spells

Spells are prepared for each class individually, and neither a 3rd level Wizard nor a 9th level Arcane Trickster Rogue can prepare 3rd level spells, so no, your Rogue 9/Wizard 3 character can’t prepare 3rd level spells. They can still use those 3rd level spell slots to upcast their 1st and 2nd...

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

Understandable. When the AI image generators first started showing up, a lot of us were excited about them, before we fully realized the implications of how they had to be “trained.” Yeah that’s also a huge issue that I don’t think gets discussed enough.

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

It’s not like that at all. Nobody thinks AI is a fad. Lots of people have serious ethical concerns about the use of AI and actively don’t want to support it because of that. Those are completely different motivations.

Hey, Nighfly, what does this say?

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

Not interested. Consumers should not compromise on issues like this, or we end up with situations like the over-monetization problem in the video game industry.

No. I will not support any commercial product made using the plagiarism machines.

D&D 5E (2014) Adjudicating Hide, You Decide Challenge!

I just think, if we assume the Halfling presses themselves flat against the wall, we should also assume the enemies lean to get a peek around the corner. Using the full square just seems to me to be the most unbiased way to make a call in these situations. To each their own though! I do think...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

In the visual language of film, starkly contrasting lighting coming in from opposing angles is generally used to communicate some sort of duality within the character who’s being lit this way - not always bisexuality, but it certainly has been used that way with some frequency. Of late though...

D&D 5E (2014) Adjudicating Hide, You Decide Challenge!

By the same token though, the enemies can be anywhere within their squares, which is why the rules for determining cover on a grid have you choose any corner of the seeker’s square and draw lines from it to every corner of the hider’s square. This gives you a kind of superposition where both...

D&D 5E (2014) Adjudicating Hide, You Decide Challenge!

Well, if the rogue in scenario 5 was just one square (5 feet) south of where you have them in the image, they would have total cover from all three enemies, so they could try to hide in that position, and then move 5 feet up to get LOS to the enemies and cast their spell or make their ranged...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

I mean, of course there’s something larger going on. The US is on the precipice of some of the worst economic turmoil it has seen in in decades, and it’s likely to affect the rest of the world in a huge way as well. It’s natural that people are going to be making big decisions about future...

James Wyatt On Dragon Delves' Solo Adventures

Neat! I like one-on-one D&D quite a lot, and this “Boon of the Lone Hero” or whatever sounds like a useful tool for enabling one-on-one sessions (though I hope humans get some additional benefit from it, since the “gain Inspiration after every long rest” feature would be redundant for them)...

D&D 5E (2014) Adjudicating Hide, You Decide Challenge!

It looks to me like the rogue has 3/4 cover from enemies 2 and 3, but not from 1. So, they can make their Stealth check to try to hide from enemies 2 and 3, and assuming they get above 15 and above those enemies’ passive Perception scores, those enemies will have disadvantage on their saves...
