    Suggestions needed: Punishing Crime

What is wrong with arresting and executing him? That is exactly how my party once dealt with the exact same situation (klilling off a merchant we just saved). The PC got a fair trial (well, as fair as it could get with my bard speaking against him in front of the jury) and got hanged. If you...

[FR] Sun Elves as evil or neutral instead of good?

Thank god for rule0. I don't tolerate uber-elves imc - and I play in the FR.

Unapproachable East --- someone scored a copy!

Maybe I can set my Mulhorandi-based group against those elves as well. IMC, non-humans are not exactly appreciated by Mulhorand, and elves would make good villains. They would have to take a number though since the Red Wizards of Thay, the churches and cults of Set and Tiamat, the forces of Free...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Archer changes

Guys, think it through: If you party is constantly facing tricked-to-the-gills classed NPCs with optimized gear, then by all means, use those as test opponents. If your party is mainly going up against threats fresh out of the MM, then use those. In the end, it comes down to whether or not the...

    Halfling PC behaving like Kender

IMHO, as long as everyone has fun, anything goes. If the players are ok with a thieving "kender", if they have fun then by all means, enjoy it. If the players don't like to have a kleptomaniac in the party, then the player of said halfling should change his PC's behaviour, or switch PC. Doesn't...

    SOB Evil DM

I agree with Kahuna Burger . this whole story sounds to contieved, with the only goal to set the PCs back. Could be that it is the mood of the campaign - struggle against all-but-hopeless- odds, but in a regular "beat then evil forces" campaign I'd be very frustrated as a player. There is...

    Pickpocketing

Back in 2E, for a short time we had a kender PC (from DL) in our FR-party. The idiot started to pick our character's pockets as well, but not for long. The wizard warned the kender, that should the little snot ever "find" one of the wizard's items again it would be fireball time until nothing...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Archer changes

Just about all those that never heard the DM say "I don't care about official rules, I decide what enters my campaign, and how." (IMHO, I don't care what the rules allow, I just check the end result (the PC) for balance in the specific campaign and party it will be used in. And if I deem it too...

Elf or Human , whos better?

I prefer half-elves, with humans a close second. Mainly for roleplaying reasons.

    (title deleted)

This thread just reinforced my opinion that nothing official should be accepted without thinking it through - be it spells, races, gods, etc. Nothing beats a homebrew campaign (or a heavily modified published setting). (Although as far as Mystra is concenred, in the novel "Crucible" she had to...

    Creating your own Adventures

I usually start with the idea of an adventure ("Party needs to get misplaced scroll safely back to its owner with no one the wiser") , then add complications ("Scroll is stored in a noble's mansion who has other things to hide and will get attacked by local rebels or bandits just when the party...

What do YOU want in a D20 adventure?

I want adventures where the emphasis is on plot and social interaction, not combat. I want NPCs with motivations, goals and quirks, not another variant of the "polymorphed X", and no overdose of the "secretly in service of organisation Y" either. I want a scaleable adventure that can be easily...

Unapproachable East --- someone scored a copy!

Yup, every elf subrace has its niche - usually its the best set of minmaxed stats for a class or two. IMFRC, elves are still retreating, and dying to boot. Relicts of a past age in all but reputation. I need more elf subraces about as much as I need another prestige class.

Which of the following WotC "options" have you used in your campaign?

None of them. While I run rather mature games, I don't need gross crunch from the BoVD. I also aim to run epic campaigns in scope and deeds, not number-crunching and stat-inflation. Savage Species has the best chances to get used one day, but the occasion has not yet come up.

[FR] Sun Elves as evil or neutral instead of good?

Well, imho, empire building - actually, building any society more complex than a tribe - is pretty much impossible for a generally chaotic people. The sheer fact that elves had vast countries with big cities - and the neccessary governement - pushes them into neutral territory. But then, pretty...

    Halfling PC behaving like Kender

IMHO, your right to roleplay your character ends where it detracts from me enjoying the game. Gaming is a social activity, if someone's action hamper the fun of the rest he has to stop. I don't deal with such problems in-game, I reason it out face to face.

[FR] Sun Elves as evil or neutral instead of good?

I would hold the NPCs to the same standard as the PCs: Their actions dictate their alignment, not vice-versa. If the gold elves are racist and elitist, then they will not be considered good anything in my campaign. IMC, I don't have "good races" - most individual elves, dwarves, humans etc. are...

As a DM, do you let PCs precisely "place" areas of effect for spells?

In our campaigns Fireballs etc. are not usually used when others are engaging the targets in melee, so it seldom comes up, but generally no. If a caster wanted to place an area effect spell with extreme precision on a battlefield with moving characters I'd request a spellcraft check. Since I...

Looking for opinions/advice on a game I'm in...

First, I stated that this was a course of last resort, after all alternatives that could lead to rehabilitation failed. (But, honestly, if telling him straight you have no fun and he should change does not help then I doubt any chance of rehabilitation.) IMHO, if I tell someone I have no fun...

Looking for opinions/advice on a game I'm in...

If nothing helps, if not even telling the DM straight that you do not have fun with that character, if you cannot even switch characters, then wreck his fun. Do not take him or his campaign seriously anymore. Laugh at his descriptions, make funny quotes whenever he tries to be dramatic, inquire...
