    Align this character.

What evidence do we have that he has a strict code of morals and behavior? From the write-up, it sounds more like a bunch of exceptions and arbitrary decisions based on viewpoints.

    Align this character.

I vote CE. No tendency about it. He's a selfish bastard who happens to have high-minded ideals that he chooses to apply as he sees fit. Torturing as 'primary questioning technique' shows a casual attitude towards cruelty, beating someone to death with their own limbs is chaotic, eugenics is...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Contemplating world-building in an E6 game... how would folks suggest structuring 'what levels exist in the population'? I realize the answer is 'however you want for your campaign,' but it might be worth poking at various designs and the effects that would have on the game.

A more gestalt approach to multiclassing

This approach seems to be significantly more complicated than a regular gestalt approach, for no apparent gain.

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Can you copy scrolls with Scribe Scroll, if they are spells you don't know? If so, then it's a perfect way to introduce higher level spells: Step 1, find a cool scroll. Step 2, copy it so you can keep making them as needed in the future. Step 3, cast spell from scroll and hope you don't flub it...

    Injuries buy off damage system

Another possibly neat extension of this system is a 'called shot' conversion -- damage is traded for effect. Joe: 'I want to smack him in the leg, cripple him as much as possible. I rolled ... ha! Crit, 20 damage!' (SRD standard ettin, 65 hit points is 7 pts per injury rank; knock down & 3/4...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Does E6 require control of the feat Toughness? It hit me that 'I take 5 Toughness feats' is a bit out of balance (+30 hit points for +1 LA, effectively?)

    Injuries buy off damage system

Aust: Hmm. Good points. Been thinking about this last night, and I think it might be good to treat it as something like Reserve points. How about this: Divide hit points by 10. This is how much an Injury Rank can soak. You can soak up to 10 ranks. Injury ranks can be used to keep someone from...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Haven't told them, yet. ;) More seriously, I'm still considering options (like my other thread about Injuries).

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

I've been thinking of running an E6 low fantasy game, and what I'm contemplaying is removing spellcasters altogether. Instead, I may add a 'touch of the healer' feat that stabilizes damage and increases natural healing, and possibly an elemental power feat that gives people damage similar to...

How to make D&D games run faster?

I've been thinking of some of this. I'm contemplating an E6 game, eliminating spellcasters, and then adding in certain feats to allow magic item creation and limited magical effects.

    Injuries buy off damage system

Yes. injury reduces damage = rank x character level. Ability damage is 1 rank for 1 point. So you could take 10 ability damage for 10 ranks. And I meant 'ability drain' = long term version of ability damage, so I may need to make that clear. Higher rank for Stun also makes some sense. Looks...

    Injuries buy off damage system

Ok, been considering this for a while now, and think I have a conceptual breakthrough to make it work. The goal is to have a 'descriptive' element to combat: I'm much happier saying something like 'the mace clips your knee -- your eyes water from the pain, and it's going to be hard putting...

    'qualitative' wound system?

Anyone have a decent system for handling damage mostly like D&D, but incorporating more descriptive/flavored wounds? Something like various leg injuries causing move penalties, or head-shots causing a round or two of stun, or... that sort of thing.

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

I'm wondering if I'd need to set up some special rules for treasure. I just have this vision of a party with a slew of +1 this, that, every minor item, several keeps filled with potions, etc. Or do the caster level caps keep things mostly under control? Oh, and to 'me too' a bit, gestalt and...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Been away for a while, just twigged to this thread and only read a few pages, so apologies if mentioned already... I've been having a REALLY enjoyable time playing in a gestalt campaign. What do people think of gestalt E6? Seems to offer a decent flexibility and breadth without running into...

Should prestige classes be better than base classes?

I think 'other' isn't the proper answer for 'different and more specialized but just as powerful overall.' Because... um, that's what 'no' means. My view? A level should be a level should be a level should be a level -- at least that should be the overriding goal. Otherwise, what the heck is...

18 int, 6 wis, 6 chr Warforged. Roleplaying tips?

Ever see the TV Show, Bones? The forensic investigator (Bones) is a perfect example. She just Doesn't Get human interaction in any way, and keeps assuming it is or should be logical. Which, of course, it isn't. She's a sympathetic, nice, attractive woman. But she has classic lack of social...

Homebrews - Stealing the best - what to steal?

Nice to see all the SSS love. Some of my favorite stuff I've worked on was for their Scarred Lands line. And it's Asaatthi. ;) I really liked Hollowfaust as a general concept that sometimes infuses into my games. Let's see, what else have I borrowed... warforged, the necromantic golems from...

    Gestalt as a level adjustment

I read somewhere, basically, +1 LA per 5 levels of gestalt. So a level 9 paladin-sorcerer is ECL 11. I wouldn't swear by it, but it seems plausible.
