The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

I think it makes a degree of sense. Errata assumes that the information is WRONG. Humanoind Gith are not a misprint. They are not wrong. They are just something made before they altered the gith.

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

No it isn't. You were complaining that they (according to you and with no evidence at all) didn't want a statblock with Orc in the name. That's been the majority of your points. It was literally the main thrust of your objection in the post I quoted. And even the complaint about there being a...

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

You have the order of events mixed up. They didn't make the Gith into Aberrations, then make the playable version humanoid. They released a humanoid playable version, because they were humanoid at that time. Now they have altered Gith to be Aberrations, but are not going back and errataing the...

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

No, that isn't how any of it works, if you bothered to watch and listen to the video.

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

Yep, so stupid that they can't go back into the past and un-publish something they already created. "Just do an errata" Why? Literally the only difference would be giving the PC immunity to some low-level spells. That isn't worth an errata at the moment.

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

I also find it odd that people are declaring we know the Archons and Guardinals aren't in the book... when the celestial's preview is tomorrow.

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

I mean, sure, it could be useful... but we have that listed already. I can tell you exactly what traits a Drow, a Tiefling, an Aasimar or a Dwarf get. So, if they were considering this one big book... why list the same information twice?

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

You know, you are right! This is just like in 2014 when the cowardly designers refused, REFUSED to put the word "Tiefling" in a statblock. Or "Elf", or "Dwarf", or "Human", or "Halfling" or "Gnome" or "Dragonborn" all these less accurate models that were just rife and we al complained about...

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

They did redefine Aberration to a degree, they literally talk about that in the video. And they also mentioned that playable Gith are humanoid. So, you have a species that can be defined as both, meaning it is on the border of the two. Should I then be shocked that they are somewhat human-like...

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

We do know that the Derro became abberations, so it is possible. It could also be their go fiendish, or even stick to humanoid with the idea that the Duergar escaped before the changes tipped them over the edge.

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

Yes, the game term "humanoid" does not match its scientific meaning. Studded leather also doesn't exist. DnD takes liberties. This isn't an issue until you make it an issue by ascribing traits to humanoid that do not exist in the game

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

What is an "abberation characteristic"? As far as I'm aware, Abberations don't share a common aesthetic or set of characteristics. And there are no racial tropes associated with then. Oceanic tropes, maybe, but even that doesn't cover all aberrations. Even if the original person presented it...

    D&D General Are You There D&D? It's Me, J.R.R. Tol-KEEEEN!

I mean, sure, but this is kind of a distinction that ignores the point. Yes, Manga and Comics are different, but saying that Manga are Japanese Comics and that Comics are American Manga also isn't inaccurate enough to cause problems. In fact, framing them that way can be interesting in seeing...

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

I don't need to bother arguing with whoever that was. I'm presenting the fact that they were lying that that was the reason. You don't only counter misinformation by telling the person spreading it, you tell the people who repeat it as well. Turns out, Mind Flayers are horrible things that can...

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

But that isn't the definition they are using. They are using "was something else, changed into this via magical forces" and yes, those are generic magical forces, and not specific ones such as Far Realms Corruption, Fiendish magic, ect. It is about as good of a category as "rock music

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

Sure... but they felt they HAD to change monstrosities because they were poorly defined and not cohesive as a concept. So, by your logic, that opened them up to making other changes.

    D&D General Are You There D&D? It's Me, J.R.R. Tol-KEEEEN!

Question, did "Portal Fantasy" come purely from Western sources? I ask, because we in the West have the Romance Genre, but if you look at anime, there are like six different types of romance genres that are more specific. What we call a "Monster Movie" is a Kaiju movie over in japan. There are...

Mostly that would be because they aren't used to thinking of Western media in Eastern terms. So has all media. Pop Music killed music and made a lot of music uncreative spam. So did the dime-store novel. So did Hollywood movies. So did streaming services. So did comics. So did.. I doubt you could find a form of media that doesn't have someone saying "it used to be good, and now most...
