    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Needs New Settings

If you dial the magic level up so far, it almost becomes indistinguishable from sci-fi. I thought I read something that they were going to revisit some of the old settings? I'd like to see an updated Planescape, and I don't know why they don't publish an actual Greyhawk book. Perhaps it's too...

Satanic Panic of the late 80's

I own a set of Jack Chick's "Dark Dungeons" Chick Tracts. :)

What needs to be in my Amazon wishlist?

Wow, ok. I would like to get something of Lili Boulanger. I'll definitely have to look into that one. Her name comes up so often, but mostly as just references to her being a teacher. edit: Ok, I'm thinking Nadia. Shame Lili died so young. Still might be worth looking into. I do like Rautavaara...

What needs to be in my Amazon wishlist?

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I do have some CDs on my wish list currently: Lucas Richman: In Truth Ince: Symphony 5 Galatasaray / Requiem Without Words (not sure why that one didn't link) Kamran Ince: Passion & Dreams Hans Abrahamsen: let me tell you by Barbara Hannigan...

What needs to be in my Amazon wishlist?

The Lazy DM book doesn't really look like something I need. But that other one (500+ pages?!), holy cow, definitely added that. That could be a fun read. Not sure I really need more paints. Since I mostly play PbP, I don't use the miniatures I have. It isn't a bad idea though.

What needs to be in my Amazon wishlist?

I own nearly every piece by Carl Orff, Igor Stravinsky, Dmitri Shostakovich, Hovhaness and Dvorak. My Philip Glass collection is also impressive. And then, of course, are the hundred+ CDs devoted to all the typical mainstream stuff that you'll find on any top 100 Classical pieces list. But it...

D&D General What day(s) or night(s) do you run/play your games?

Yes. PbEM is play-by-email. PbM, I presume, is to play via snail mail. I don't know that anyone does that anymore. PbP is done on a forum, like this one. In fact, ENWorld has a PbP forum.

D&D General What day(s) or night(s) do you run/play your games?

Throat Warbler Mangrove. My choice isn't there - I mostly play PbP. So, "every day, every night". But I answered based on when I did play at my table, and if I were to do so again - basically Sunday afternoon.

How deadly do you like your game (as a player or DM)?

Also wanted to add that I really hate the kind of old school stuff I see in certain modules where, even though the party is like, level 4, there is a very real chance they could just happen upon a CR 12 encounter, or whatever. I guess that can make sense from a realism perspective, but I just...

How deadly do you like your game (as a player or DM)?

Probably 1 or 2, but at least with an impression of 3. As a GM, stuff happens, and PCs could die, but if I've done my work right, I shouldn't create a scenario so terrible that it kills people. And since the PCs generally outnumber the monsters (or at least overpower them), there's a solid...

Do you consider learning a new game to be unpleasant work?

Work. I'm really, really lazy. I think this is a big reason why I don't like published modules, and mostly don't use them (although, I'm getting better at this). It's because I hate reading the entire thing in order to know whether or not I can use it in my game or not. I like "cliff's...

Campaign Concepts You've Got On Deck

I had some posts about this in the D&D forum here. Working on the structure for a 1-20(?) D&D campaign. Basically, city-based campaign to start. PCs do odd-jobs for nobles for a few levels, and then a plague hits the town. The dead are taken away on boat to be dropped at sea, only they aren't...

What needs to be in my Amazon wishlist?

I do like minis, and they got me some last year (odd ones, though, but yes). I also have a bit of a backlog on painting them, and given that most of my gaming these days is PbP (a medium which I honestly prefer), I don't have much use for them. Plus, I already have lots. But a good suggestions...

How Many GMs Run Multiple Games?

I play PbP over at Myth-Weavers. I play in 4? games - 3 5e, 1 Pathfinder (which can be confusing), and I run one campaign, and just started another that's really just a test game to try out some combat scenarios. So, that one doesn't really require any prep. But I said "2". I am thinking about...

What needs to be in my Amazon wishlist?

So, it's coming up on Christmas, and as I am a geek, and my wife is not, she relies on my Amazon wish list to help her buy gifts for me. So, I oblige her by putting stuff in the list. It's usually comprised of gaming books, and classical music CDs - two things which are notoriously difficult...

D&D General Why do you play Dungeons & Dragons?

There's a word or phrase to describe this idea, but essentially - I play D&D because everyone else plays D&D. I also really enjoy it. It's true of social phenomenon. Everyone is on Facebook is a reason to use Facebook. Everyone is on Twitter is why people use Twitter. If I were to use a dating...

D&D General Island of science experiments

sniff I love you guys. This is great stuff. Like, I would have never imagined a town full of intellect devourers. Jesus Christ! @Cap'n Kobold I like your ideas, and would like to subscribe to your newsletter. The crux of the campaign is that a goblin alchemist (wizard, though I'll...

D&D General Island of science experiments

In a campaign I'm working on, I've devised an island that requires a constant supply of slaves. These slaves are divided up into a variety of ways on the island, because there are several entities here which require them for experimentation, or other purposes. A small town exists to supply these...

    D&D General My head exploded

Understand that I've nothing but respect for Jennell. So, I'm not trying to slight her over this. And the likelihood that she reads this is fairly slim. There are plenty of people out there that might only know her as her deadname. So yes, I'm opting for avoiding confusion, and perhaps even...

    D&D General My head exploded

Yea, I removed some references. Like Umbran said, however, I felt like the reference was necessary to avoid some level of confusion.
