    D&D 5E (2014) Phantom Rogue

So considering two ideas here as a multi-class. 3 levels of Rune Knight. I think that the runes carried goes well with the Tokens of the Departed. Considering either doing those 3 at 14th to not delay the other phantom abilities, or doing it after 1st. Which would delay Wails of the Grave and a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Phantom Rogue

How about MC as the fighter for 3 levels? The Rune knight Cloud Rune looks attractive for 3 levels possibly.

    D&D 5E (2014) Phantom Rogue

If you choose the Dhampir at character creation, it specifies that you can choose small or medium size and it's not tied to your ancestry trait. You could be small if you saw value in that.

    D&D 5E (2014) Phantom Rogue

On a side note, I considered the Arcane Trickster, but why does the thief get Use Magic Device but not the spell wielding rogue? or any other rogue for that matter? I think that they should have considered making it a feat. Sorry diverged from topic there.

    D&D 5E (2014) Phantom Rogue

These are great, thanks. I considered the variant human but I like the flavor of the Dhampir and the I thought that the Spider Climb was good for a rogue as is having Darkvision. I think the whole death theme goes well between race and subclass.

    D&D 5E (2014) Phantom Rogue

Playing with ideas for a Phantom Rogue. Looking at the Dhampir from VRGtR. Seems like a natural. Has anyone played the Phantom? Feats are in including Tasha's. Recommendations? It reminds me of the 3.5 Ghost Faced Killer.

D&D 5E (2014) Spell focus needs an errated rule

Warcaster feat enables doing somatic components with a weapon or shield in one hand, or both hands. A focus replaces a material component and takes a hand to hold, so, yes, that would limit it further. If you have a focus in one hand and a shield or weapon in the other, your hands are full so no...

D&D 5E (2014) Spell focus needs an errated rule

Regeneration requires a focus. Also, a bard can acquire spells from other lists that may work. I don't find an inherent problem with the ability, though I might have made it for all spells and said that if a spell requires a focus or material component, then you must have it. It's limited, but...

    D&D 5E (2014) VRGtR Dhampyr

Kind of what I was thinking if the first sentence on the Dhampyr is intended to read that all other features of your race disappear. So if you're Dragonborn then the breath weapon wouldn't work anymore either. It actually specifies that in a sidebar.

    D&D 5E (2014) VRGtR Dhampyr

Thanks Benjamin. I agree but it has changed significantly since the UA. As I read it, the racial ability bonuses are replaced by what the Dhapyr gets and you can replace other racial features with two skills of your choice, but it does not mention feats, only movement speeds skills. It also...

    D&D 5E (2014) VRGtR Dhampyr

At character creation, would you rule that if the character is variant Human Dhampyr, he would keep the feat gained at 1st level?

How Do You Feel About NPC Party Members (A Poll)

Agree. A common occurrence at my table; NPCs turn, player x is in trouble nearby, in character, 'do you want some help there x?' Answer, 'no I got this.' NPC 'As you wish.' If the warrior princess kills 8 of 10 goblins by herself, I wonder how they captured her. I may actually use that.

How Do You Feel About NPC Party Members (A Poll)

I did a poll myself fairly recently if people like DMNPC companions in general. The response options were Like them, don't like them, depends on the party or characters, or Depends on the group. I expected many don't like them, but don't like them was actually the least popular response...

    D&D 5E (2014) Paladin Build

So, for our next campaign, Tasha's is in so I have been playing with ideas for a build. Backstory, He's grew up a human not in the nearest elven city but in the underdark city far beneath. Hence some of the unusual feat choices. Variant Human Standard array Str 15 Dex 10 Con 12 Int 13 Wis 8 Cha...

    D&D 5E (2014) I need some "Watchdog" Monsters

If you are willing to convert a creature to 5E, back in 4e was the Gremlin. There was one that became invisible when an enemy was adjacent to it. I had the as guards once and the rogue snuck up on them. Whoops.

    D&D 5E (2014) NPC Allies?

Thanks Everyone, my language was not meant to be ambiguous. I was referring to characters that help the party directly including combat in an ongoing way. I think I have an answer though from the results and comments. I had heard some folk put forth the opinion that this was an invariably bad...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tasha's and Haste

When you use the attack action, however many attacks you might get, claw lets you make one claw attack as part of that action. Then haste gives you another action which can be used to make one attack. It is still another attack action. I don't see a limit on the number of times a Path of the...

    D&D 5E (2014) NPC Allies?

OK. Here's a poll for the community. I there are some strong negative feelings about this, but indulge me as I test the wind. I'll leave the poll open for 2 weeks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tasha's Optional Class Features - Using Them or Not?

In our game, changes in the rules are incorporated in the next new character or campaign. That way, we are not chasing a set of rules that may continue to change. Optional rules are up to the player to ask.

D&D General Yan C Bin is the worst name in D&D

We had a guy show up once with Quanteen Leek. I think Melf is the original, 'I don't know so screw it' name. Male elf Melf. Argh. In our game there are few role play rules but one is 'no joke names.'
