WotC Who should own Wizards of the Coast if/when it is sold?

If the old sage bought the company, he could pick and choose combined content as he likes.

    D&D 5E (2014) Shield Saltiness

Agree that the rule is clear. It's an action to equip a shield. He could draw a weapon as part to the same action. As to if it's appropriate behavior in the town; that's a matter of the setting and role play, not rules. If the party understands that in this town we keep our shield on our backs...

WotC Who should own Wizards of the Coast if/when it is sold?

Agree it's not likely, but a 6e in which Pathfinder and D&D (re)unite in the sense of the original sage being at the helm of a new edition could be outstanding.

WotC Who should own Wizards of the Coast if/when it is sold?

If it were sold, which personally, I do not think is likely, then Skip Williams.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Oathbreaker

Thanks. By the 150 views and no replies, I take it not many have been the Oathbreaker in play. Lots of good stuff in TCOE. The rule in our game is that if new stuff is errata'd or released in a new book, we use it beginning with the next new campaign/character so the timing is good.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Oathbreaker

So playing with ideas for the Oathbreaker. Variant human. Starting at 1st. Looking at the feats including in UA that are likely to be in TCOE and be mainstream legal. My thought was to get some spells that are unusual for the Paladin. I can also see a lot of potential in the Metamagic Adept...

    D&D 5E (2014) Killed Me a Lawful Stupid Paladin

DMing, If for some reason a course comes up that the player, REALLY should not try, I like the phrase, You can try, but it may be suicidal. The exception is if it it's a hazard that they haven't detected, (which should be survivable anyway) or the intended last session of the campaign. That...

    D&D 5E (2014) Killed Me a Lawful Stupid Paladin

I played a very arrogant paladin once. party came to heavy gate. Mix of men and women playing. Paladin 'You'd better let a man handle this m'lady.' puts away weapon, high strength score rolls well, handily lifts rusted old gate. Ogre on the other side readied action, crit with a greatclub.

    I like that.

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternate Ranger

Interesting feedback friends. Thanks. Not saying I'm purporting mine to be better, just taking a stab (snicker) at it. The UA version from my read deals with the issue of 'my favored enemy might not come up, and my favored terrain might not either' by making some of the benefits everywhere and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternate Ranger

So I've heard or read quite a bit about the ranger in 5E complaining that it's underpowered, badly written or that there were otherwise design issues. I took my stab at it. Not saying this is how it should be but IMHO this changes the existing as little as possible and irons out some perceived...

D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Drakewarden and Way of the Ascendant Dragon

Way of the Ascendant Dragon Monk IMHO Yes, likely connected to a dragon god. But not necessarily. Either way, lots of opportunity for role play. Draconic Discipline: I like the idea of the damage type but my suggestion would be give the monk claws, and to have the claws do the damage type. and...

D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: 2020 Subclasses 5 (Dragon Subclasses from Monk and Ranger)

Way of the Ascendant Dragon Monk IMHO Yes, likely connected to a dragon god. But not necessarily. Either way, lots of opportunity for role play. Draconic Discipline: I like the idea of the damage type but my suggestion would be give the monk claws, and to have the claws do the damage type. and...

D&D 5E (2014) Should the Hexblade Patron be Banned?

Typically, bonus action Hexblade's curse, then either eldritch blast or if advantage can be had then greenflame blade. Spend a 5th level slot to smite. 3 slots a short rest means that most often, I can get at least one in. If smite isn't effective, or if it's not a good idea to go melee, then EB...

D&D 5E (2014) Should the Hexblade Patron be Banned?

Having played the Hexblade to 14th so far, I took Thirsting Blade as as soon as I could get it. I'm considering replacing it though. Character has Greenflame Blade and ofted uses the cast a spell action to do greenflame blade once instead. The d8s add damage and if he's attacking in melee, he's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Material components

I don't ignore but most classes have a spell focus, so, It only comes up when you have an expensive component.

D&D 5E (2014) Should the Hexblade Patron be Banned?

Lots of good feedback. I'm looking forward to the final result and I'm heartened that everyone doesn't think it's drek because I've played the class for months now. My character knows who made the hexblade. His ancestor took a merchant voyage to a far away land and disappeared for years. He...

D&D 5E (2014) Should the Hexblade Patron be Banned?

I recently watched a podcast review of the Hexblade Otherworldly Patron. I was surprised that both hosts hated it. Their main points were to the effect of it being broken particularly at first level. I've played one to 14th now and I can say IMHO I would not ban it as a DM as these fellows...

    D&D 5E (2014) Question about hex warrior

Things that give you extra attacks with the attack action expressly don't stack. Thirsting Blade gives you two Attacks with the attack action. Echo knight then makes one from the echo's position.
