Duergar: I'm shocked - a flavour change I really like!

Originally she was just a demon. Drow were corrupted and driders were intended to just be another corruption. A chaotic mess of spider and drow born from demonic chaos and not some drow who failed 4th grade. I don't like the fact Lolth went from some demon to some goddess. The original flavor...

    Starting small in the Realms...

I dunno. Could be gnome bards. They got so powerful; the whole Realms world had to unite and destroy them all... "in a spell plague" :-p

So what do you want to Run?

If it's quicker to write up an adventure, less rules for my lawyers to argue over. Than that's my first thing. Easy prep time and less rules talk, more killing monsters! The flavor stuff has been so far "so-so" hit and "some real" misses for me. Not sure if I'd bother w/ POL as my campaign...

    Tieflings of Melnibone

Warning. If you read Elric. D&D's current alignment system will make sense and you might not like any changes to it. ;-)

    Tieflings of Melnibone

" The 4E Tieflings evolved from the corrupt nobility of an ancient, powerful human empire that trafficked with devils to increase their power. they make good Warlocks." Sounds kinda like Elric.

What DO you like about 1E AD&D

    I agree.

Which version of D&D for young children?

I'd say any version. Just don't expect most rules to be followed. Keep it simple.

    Jobs in the Industry

I'm not a pro but make a web site dedicated to your stuff. Get it announced on ENworld. Let people see your stuff. Send in examples to DDI (Dragon/Dungeon). Marry the CEO of Hasbro's daughter.

NORSE/VIKING adventures, settings, conan type adventures

Against the Giants, yeah. Beowulf. Go to Wikipedia, look up Nordic barbarians, Rus, Finnish mythology, German barbarians, they were very similar to Norse ones).

    Barbarians as a Race

I guess someone made some bad stat rolls. At least they picked up the 'funny' feat and animal companion, Triumph.

    Barbarians as a Race

You're forgeting that in 3e XP rules; you get the XP for defeating the challenge. Picking up wenches in the tavern can gain you your level. Just make your Will save vs. beer googles, or you'll end up getting much less XP than you thought the challenge would get you.

    Barbarians as a Race

Could call them: Magic-user, thief, fighting man, Celtic philosopher priest, Friar (Tuck), knight (Jedi :-p) and Celtic seer priest (Yeah that's an Ovate but it sounds better than Celtic historian priest). But I like that idea of calling barbarians "conans" ;-)

    Barbarians as a Race

True. But classes are (were) a archtype of character. So a berserker could be a class. I prefer barbarian though. Saxons would kick any Viking's butt! ;-)

    Barbarians as a Race

No. Not a race. I wouldn't even call it a culture. It's more of a way to describe people who aren't of *the* civilized world/country. Each barbarian tribe or clan or from a region would be a culture, I suppose. I played for awhile with a guy who treated barbarians as a race. The most honorable...

Honestly, how often have you used gnomes?

Maybe they heard people say they wanted hobbits not kenders. Unfortunately the designers must like kenders. So as a sign, they took the "adventurous" Buckland hobbits (they live by a river), and added it into the kender. I don't find myself ever playing a gnome. I offered them in my campaign...

    And the mystery race is...hated

Could be worst. The race could of been any from the Races Of books, or be orc.
  17. M

I think Orcs are the mystery race...

Not orcs (tiefling is dumb enough as a PHB1 core race). If they want heroic... go Mindflayers. ;-)

    ORCS or Half-Orcs?

No no Reynard. I think the pro-noble savage orc, with their proud Klingon honor culture, could make a good core race. Orcs, tieflings and of course, Mindflayers. Gnomes can be the new orc. Tribes of flesh eating gnomes attacking farmers. The adventures write themselves. An evil wizard and his...

    ORCS or Half-Orcs?

Orcs aren't lock in through an archtype? Mindflayers will eat tofu brains or brains from sheep and cows. Everyone at the pub will order lamb legs, Mindflayer a sheep brain. They should be renowned for their singing too. They could be the bard race.

    ORCS or Half-Orcs?

Then I want Mindflayers as a core race. They could be based off the Swiss and Maya. They'll be neutral. Known for their strong banks and their interest in calendars and time. Then we can have Half-Flayers too! Male Mindflayers are now very charming and care deeply on the issue of magic and its...
