D&D General The Rubber Band Effect

It seems to me this ends up being where the problem lies. All of the editions of D&D are so different: BCEMI from 1st & 2nd ed from 2nd ed with Skills and Powers from 3.x from 4E and from 5E. Some of the changes between editions are so radical that it becomes easy to say "I liked this more" or...

    Pathfinder for Savage Worlds opinions

I've never played any version of Rifts, including the Savage Worlds on so that might be it. I always thought is sounded like a cool setting though.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds, what did you think?

Maybe I'm missing something here but since that one show is part of the whole franchise then that one show altering canon means it's altered for the entire franchise, no? Someone can choose to ignore it as a fan and have their own "personal canon", but the franchise cannon is now changed.

D&D General The Rubber Band Effect

All of the responses and poor Mezuka isn't around anymore to read the conversation he started.

    Pathfinder for Savage Worlds opinions

I will certainly agree that the subsystems, like the chase system, drive me nuts. As for the rest, I feel like we are playing different versions of the same game, or maybe just using different settings with customized rules because I don't feel like the system is that complex. Some versions of...

D&D General The Rubber Band Effect

My fondest memories are of 2nd edition AD&D, in part because, as was previously mentioned, of the amount of time I had to play. I played 3rd edition the longest because I migrated to Pathfinder but eventually got burned out and have grown to think it's too rules heavy. I chose not to play any...

    D&D 5E (2024) WoTc and TSR... what is D&D

Whatever the current edition is will usually be king, with the possible exception of 4E since Pathfinder carried on the 3.x tradition and by some accounts it outsold 4E. That said, games like Old School Essentials, OSRIC, and Castles & Crusades do have a reasonable sized followings and there are...

    Pathfinder for Savage Worlds opinions

My copy of Pathfinder for Savage Worlds showed up the other day and I have slowly been flipping through it. So far the only bit I feel unsure about is the Conviction mechanic but I haven't read the entire thing yet so I am withholding judgment on the game until I finish reading it. As a fan of...

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

I agree, nWoD was a good game but after playing oWoD for so long and being used to its history and setting nWoD just kind of fell flat for me.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds, what did you think?

I agree with you. I Like Chapel in the show but she is radically different than her TOS counterpart. May as well be a different character.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds, what did you think?

Well, that wasn't very useful. Do you have any reasons for your dislike?

The Best Show You're Not Watching Right Now (Severance)

No back catalog is part of the reason why I won't pay for AppleTV+ but also because I am only willing to pay for so many streaming services. I cut the cord years ago because the cost of cable is obscene but now streaming is the new cable. I have a friend who loves See. I have tried twice to...

The Best Show You're Not Watching Right Now (Severance)

Severance is great. I'm not going to pay for a regular subscription to Apple TV+ but between Severance and For All Mankind Apple has a couple of great shows.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds, what did you think?

I think it looked good but the bridge was about as big as the Enterprise-D and Pike's quarters looked like a penthouse compared to what we have seen before on any ship. That's something thing Star Trek: Enterprise did well, it looked small and cramped compared to TOS and then the ships of the...

Star Trek Strange New Worlds, what did you think?

Personally, I loved it. My spoiler free review is that I feel like I have watched my first real Star Trek show in decades. I like Picard and really enjoy Lower Decks but Strange New Worlds, I thought, really captured the feeling of Trek. It's not nearly as dark as Disco or Picard, visually or...

    Best universal rpg system?

I've been playing a lot of Savage Worlds the past few years and enjoy it a lot. I own FATE but haven't had a chance to play it.

    Hello McFly???

I have three gaming nights, two are board games and one is an RPG. The boards games are in person but the RPG is online. I moved from Akron, Ohio 12 years ago and didn't want to stop gaming with my group so I bought Fantasy Grounds and we have been using it to play ever since. I have been...

Wasn't this also part of their April Fools gag? If it was it's even funnier that it's true.
