    Tempests destroying two-hander style?

Sunder Armor, encounter level 7. It's a good power to use before going action point nova on a solo bad guy. :)

    NPC Swordmage

Naw, just assume that whatever weapon he's using, he's proficient with it. It's that simple.

    Tempests destroying two-hander style?

Catastrophic Flurry (the 2[w]+str x 3 attacks power) will almost always do more damage on average than Avalanche of Steel (the 8[w]+str power). Neither power is weapon style specific. Sorry to keep picking on your math. :P There is some satisfaction in getting one giant crit though, as opposed...

    Tempests destroying two-hander style?

I agree with this in general. But when we're talking about two types of fighters who do nearly the same type of things (defend, while sacrificing a little bit of defense for offense), the DPR comparison is much more relevant; i.e. the confounding variables are relatively few.

    Tempests destroying two-hander style?

That's a good point. I'm pretty sure the Tempest encounter powers beat out others in damage, but there are no fighter daily attacks that require two melee weapons, so the advantage there goes to the Great Weapon Fighter. The existence of a [w]=d12 off-hand double weapon (Urgrosh) throws this for...

    Tempests destroying two-hander style?

First, your math is off. Please double check. For instance: You somehow got your miss chance to increase by adding HBM. ( EDIT: Sorry, I see that you just mistyped the % hit part. ) You also didn't add any damage from Reckless or Bloodclaw on hits. You do not add anything to Miss: damage, if...

    Tempests destroying two-hander style?

I've included the class feature in my calculations. Using short swords instead of a double sword does not decrease damage very much. The problem with double sword is not that it causes an overwhelming amount of damage; it's that a single weapon qualifies you for too many things and makes...

    Tempests destroying two-hander style?

Okay. By the way, both you and Sessadore did your calculations with level 1 characters, where of course the effect of weapon damage dice will be the greatest and you will have the smallest amount of static damage bonuses. Let's do some level 30 calcs. Let's assume that a baseline of +2...

    Tempests destroying two-hander style?

Unfortunately, no. As you start stacking static damage mods, multiple attacks begin to scale much further ahead in damage than high x[W] dice attacks. Higher level tempest fighters trail slightly behind in damage from rangers, and pull far ahead of warlocks. This is definitely solid striker...

Do you play more for the story or the combat?

I don't think D&D necessarily caters more to one side or the other. 1) Do you like lots of rules for story? vs. 2) Do you like lots of rules for combat? Is not the same as: 1) Do you like story? vs. 2) Do you like combat?

Do you play more for the story or the combat?

Uhm... both. Sometimes it's a little bit more one way or the other, depending on mood. Why is "both" not an option? I don't think I can quantify how much I like one or the other to +/- 0.0000001%.

House Rule - level bonus added to damage?

The trick is to know where to look for damage modifiers. Here's a new metric for the level 30 rogue, with some other likely bonuses thrown in: 2d4 + 6(enhancement) + 8 (26 dex) + sneak attack [5d8+7 (24 str)] + 3 (weapon focus) + 6 (bracers) + 12 (reckless weapon) = range of 37-43 on normal...

    How should I pronounce Tiefling?

FWIW, if you were a French speaker, you'd pronounce it "Bu-LET."

What ways are there to prevent teleportation?

Teleportation prevention is sort of built-in at lower paragon tier, because as mentioned above, you need line of sight for short-range teleport powers, and long-range teleport ritual requires the presence of a teleportation circle (not to mention knowledge of the sequence of runes for that circle).

    Favorite cigarette?

Parliament Lights. Used to be Benson & Hedges 100's. Nothing really special. Have you guys seen those new Camels that have this weird... knob inside them that, when broken, turns the regular cigarette into a menthol?

im working on a new campina, i need some...

Can you be a bit more specific? The DMG really is a good place to start for this sort of advice. My personal bit of advice for a first time DM is to only create what you need to create. You don't need an entire world before your first adventure. Just some vague background, a couple buildings in...

Low magic armor and weapon tables, now with costs (based on the "Mearls Code")

This is a little weird. You've essentially taken magical armor, added it to a magic neck-slot item, and given it a non-magical armor name. This brings up a few questions. How is armor providing a bonus to Will Defense? How does some armor penalize checks while at the same time providing a bonus...

How would you prefer D&D class abilities to be handled?

I don't feel that there's a dichotomy here - nothing prevents you from having distinctive characters from a combination of both in-game actions and mechanics.

    2 wpn fighting paladin possible?

Yumepenguin's suggestions are pretty much the way I'd do it. I'll add that you actually can wield two normal weapons, if you take the Two-Bladed Warrior multiclass feat from Martial Power.

    Longsword Finesse bummer

This is what 77IM is saying. The rapier user is ahead on damage without spending any feats. The longsword user has to spend feats to catch up. You can do the same with rapier, only with more sneak attack damage than a longsword at the same feat cost. No reason to use a longsword. This is...
