If Harm is broken, what's the best house rule for it?

No, I do not. There is a difference between being effective and being balanced. Each class plays a role in combat, but one thing you left out is that this is a group oriented game. This game is not designed to be a deathmatch sport where you drop a 20th lvl bard and a 20th lvl sorcerer into...

If Harm is broken, what's the best house rule for it?

Rampant hijacking ;) My fault for mentioning save vs die along during the look at critical hits vs. harm. FD

If Harm is broken, what's the best house rule for it?

Do you believe all classes should be .. err.. "balanced" against each other for pure combat? At all levels? FD

If Harm is broken, what's the best house rule for it?

Since you seem to be concentrating on villians: Any high level wizard who would require a insta-death spell to eliminate a fighter deserves the death they get. There is a reason they have that high int and high level. If you think the insta-spells balance out the combat types, then you are...

If Harm is broken, what's the best house rule for it?

I have seen it and partcipated to a small degree- your conclusion that they are balanced has not been proven to my satisfaction. FD

Whats the Point of the Craft Rings Feat

Ahh, ok, good catch (like I said, I am away from notes)- The requirements for Craft Minor Magical Item would be along the lines of: Must be able to cast 0 or 1st level spells. Spellcraft: 4 ranks I don't have rangers in my game, and I have trouble seeing a paladin make items- but I guess...

DM Tips for Death in Freeport

Salutations, Kalendraf has got it down- iirc, most discussion starts on the following adventures, but involves tips on all of the adventures and how to tighten the connection between them. Silly me FD

If Harm is broken, what's the best house rule for it?

No. At low levels crits have a chance to wipe out a person in one go, but definitly not at higher levels. However, I tend to be very generous about them saving each other. No matter how much damage is done, I usually will not drop the person below -9 (unless it is a dramatic moment). That...

If Harm is broken, what's the best house rule for it?

I do use that line, but I add the words "and usually better" to the end. My players tend to be good at not being cheap- just because they know that exploiting something is the quickest way to have it used against them. But. I don't want my npc's wiped out with a touch- and they don't want...

If Harm is broken, what's the best house rule for it?

You are taking my comment out of context- it was in response to the idea that since Harm requires a touch attack, the high level fighter with 3 hp left can dish out an equal amount of punishment in one round. Thus, balancing the spell. FD

    Knowledge: Arcana or Spellcraft

I look at it this way- the main people arcane casters to center around this knowldge and craft of magic is the wizard. The wizard has a high int- so they are making up the skill points there. Are all wizards going to be as studious? No, some wizards are not interested in the how, why, or what...

    FFG's Midnight setting

It will be interesting to see how the whole book turns out - it has the potential of becoming the benchmark of a low-magic setting. I realize other published settings are also low magic, but they seem to achieve it while creating a whole new magic system. Midnight seems to make slight changes...
