D&D 5E (2014) Content Warning Labels? Yeah or Nay?

I think things like this are pretty solidly good. Most of this content won't bother most people, but the people who are bothered by it have usually had enough horrible crap happen to them already in their lives and do not need more, and especially don't need it as surprises. You might also...

TSR TSR3 Blames Widespread Pushback On WotC

My understanding of this is that business associates of a health care professional are a covered entity, and only in their capacity as doing business with that health care professional. You have to have some kind of health care professional relationship happening before it kicks in at all...

D&D General Gale Force 9 v WotC Lawsuit Settled

That doesn't say "no money". "fees and costs" would be if the court ordered one side to pay the other's attorneys. That is normal in an amicable settlement, and doesn't mean no money changed hands.

    D&D General Bun sword

I am reminded of the time I introduced a Pinking Sword. You know, like Pinking Shears. Only it's a sword which produces that characteristic zig-zag pattern when cutting.

D&D 5E (2014) Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

I don't think there's any risk of us not having archetypes or stereotypes to break out of, but I would be fine with the system not mechanically encouraging people to embrace them. I would also be good with getting away from the notion that stereotypes are based on real and innate qualities of...

D&D 5E (2014) Jeremy Crawford Discusses Details on Custom Origins

That seems like a good argument against it.

D&D General (Anecdotal) conversations with Asian gamers on some problems they currently face in the D&D world of RPG gaming

Insofar as our culture has some kind of shared norms about morality, I think it's good for companies to be encouraged to uphold societal values at all sometimes, and in particular, to be willing to say "no, this is too bad and we won't touch it". Corporations exist because we as a society hope...

D&D General Why DPR Sucks: Discussing Whiteroom Theorycrafting

I have seen a lot of analysis of combat here that struck me as good analysis for a spherical melee of uniform density, but totally irrelevant to actual play.

WotC WotC is hiring Senior Manager for Diversity, equity and inclusion.

Experiencing discrimination does not create complete qualification, but it's a very likely predictor for a deeper practical understanding of the nature of the problem. That said, it does run straight into the fact that all the ways you could find out about this are, almost definitionally, going...

WotC WotC is hiring Senior Manager for Diversity, equity and inclusion.

I would suggest that perhaps "has been discriminated against" is experience. The point of experience is that having experiences leads to you understanding things differently than if you haven't had those experiences. Not all experience relevant to a job is "work" experience.

D&D 5E (2014) Player agency and Paladin oath.

"Refuse to torture prisoners for information" isn't good, it's neutral. Good doesn't just mean "not actively being evil". (Also, it's rational, as it's been very thoroughly established that torturing prisoners for information is basically worse-than-nothing in terms of getting remotely reliable...

WotC WotC is hiring Senior Manager for Diversity, equity and inclusion.

Good questions. Off the top of my head, start with Group Dynamics for Teams (Daniel Levi), which will at least have references to the actual research. I think your analysis assumes that everyone living in a country has the same cultural experience, but the key point here is that this isn't...

WotC WotC is hiring Senior Manager for Diversity, equity and inclusion.

In theory, the ability to understand discrimination issues isn't tied to being a minority, but in practice, if you have a group of non-minority people, no matter how much theoretical knowledge they have, they're extremely likely to miss things pertaining to discrimination which would not be...

D&D General Two underlying truths: D&D heritage and inclusivity

You're arguing with someone who, in a recent thread, asked how it was bad for Jewish people for people to post anti-Semitic rants. I don't think you're going to get anywhere asking them to think about consequences; either they can't, or they like the consequences.

D&D General Two underlying truths: D&D heritage and inclusivity

That's a very good point. I tend to avoid that language in general for exactly that reason, because it's hard to manage all the nuance needed to express the concept of people behaving monstrously. That said, the greatest evil requires not just characterizing other people as monsters, but...

D&D General Two underlying truths: D&D heritage and inclusivity

Sometimes the best way to keep your "heritage" in mind is to be aware that your ancestors were monsters.

D&D 5E (2014) command [approach]: take action on turn?

It seems to me that the other example Command spell uses all at least strongly imply "do nothing but this". Approach doesn't specifically state that the target has to use their action (say, Dash) to approach you, just that they approach you, and only specifies ending the turn at that point if...
