Dark Sun character background help request

I would simply place it anywhere outside of Tyr. There's a lot of nothing there. What does your DM say?

Dark Sun character background help request

This one is definitely the easiest. What about a bodyguard for a former templar of Kalak who lost his or her life and/or position in the events following Kalak’s death? Why artificer? That really doesn’t suit Athas at all and, as it’s a multiclass rather than a core concept, wouldn’t it make...

    D&D 4E Comprehensive list of 4E stuff?

Free? Yes. Legal to distribute? Yes, where I live; no in many other places. You will notice that I did not include any sort of link with my post. Edit: Just for the sake of clarity, AbdulAlhazred is writing about the Character Builder; my post referred to the Compendium.

    Dark Sun monsters beyond DSCS?

    Someone compiled a list:

    Dark Sun economy

Have you downloaded the Ashes of Athas campaign for 4E? If not, head to Alphastream 's website and use the contact form there to ask for the adventures. I'm downloading them as I type this so have yet to read them but I imagine there are a lot of good ideas in those adventures that are worth...

    D&D 4E Comprehensive list of 4E stuff?

There is an offline version of the Compendium that has absolutely everything, including sources.

D&D 4E Throwing ideas, seeing what sticks (and what stinks)

Gnolls were actually size L - beware of two-handed swords! - and had 2 hit dice. Flinds, however, were size M and had 2+3 hit dice. I loved using gnolls because their L size meant my sword-armed PCs could really unload the damage on them. (And in a game when there was little beyond rolling to...

    Help with Eberron

Yes, he definitely got better! :) Queen of Stone was, IIRC, his fifth novel and it showed. But even Keith's worst novel (and I mean that relatively speaking: I like his writing) is better than almost any piece of FR malware.

    Help with Eberron

I would recommend reading Queen of Stone by Keith Baker. Unlike Forgotten Realms novels which are, at best, setting malware, the majority of Eberron novels actually do a great job of staying true to the setting. Queen of Stone is set in Droaam and really brings it alive. Also, the Eye of the...

Repost- first session of Dark Sun campaign

I'm glad you saved these posts so you re-post them. After vicariously enjoying your other 4E campaign for so long, I think I am also going to enjoy this new 4E fix (and not least because I may follow up our current 4E FR game with a 4E excursion to Dark Sun).

    Can't Renew my DDI SUB

I'm using the offline Character Builder updated with CBLoader, an offline, fan-created version of the D&D Compendium that is even better than the online version, and I use Masterplan as my monster builder. Posting links is in violation of board rules but I can assure you that these are all just...

Session report - the Mausoleum of the Raven Queen

I recently went back and saved them all because I was thinking that ENWorld seems to sh*t itself every year or two. It seems I was right.... ;) And they really do make great reading.

Session report - the Mausoleum of the Raven Queen

Oops. I was going to specifically mention him and those columns but I got interrupted by my kids and missed that I hadn't finished editing my comments before posting. Yes, Chris definitely got it and those DM Experience columns are excellent reading.

Session report - the Mausoleum of the Raven Queen

What can I say? Seriously, I save all of your session report posts and read them both as inspiration and as a reminder that I really need to lift my game as a DM! :) How I wish someone at WotC during the 4E years had grokked 4E, especially the Epic Tier, in the same way you had/have. We would...

New issue of Dragon+ (April '16)

At least I was able to extract some useful art from this issue of Dragon-. (Boareskyr Bridge under a blood-tinged sunset or moon? Oh yeah, I can use that.... :) )

    Monster Builder

Originally, you could download your .monster files and import them into Masterplan but that functionality was removed after a C&D from WotC. And, of course, no copies of the pre-C&D version exist on the internet. No, not one. Nope, they do not exist. In theory, though, you could import all of...

Any No Thank You, Evil! homebrew adventures yet?

Does it have the same restrictive licence as Numenera that forbids the circulation of homebrewed content - even the free stuff - by PDF?

D&D 3.x Issues that might arise from a "core book only" 3.5 campaign and possible fixes?

A druid, cleric, or wizard is broken right out of the PHB so I wouldn't worry about anything else. But make sure you ban Book of Exalted Deeds on principle. That really was crap with a capital K. Personally, if I was going to run 3.5E again I would make a full attack into a standard action...
