    2/7 DDI Update

I don't disagree with your initial point, but I do disagree with this. Their focus should be on fixing what's broken before adding in "new" features or new content. I'll also note that this was a recurring problem with the old CB as well - there were a number of bugs that weren't getting...

How about your OWN "Dragon" Mag?

I would love to see an alternative 4E-oriented magazine. I like what I've seen of KQ, but the fact that most months at least half of the crunch is for a system I don't run is a big turn-off. Personally, I've always wanted to see EN Publishing take up something like that, but I don't know if...

Botched up launch of recent IDW D&D comic series.

I read through those articles, and they were an interesting look at small publishers. However, they all seemed to ignore several larger pieces of the puzzle. For example, that comics by and large are a dying medium, that indie/small-publisher hits are not as common as it might seem, that...

    DDXP Liveblogging

I don't disagree with that statement. However, that statement (true or not) is irrelevant. WotC wants more DMs. More DMs means more players, a percentage of whom will also be buying some stuff. I'll hazard an uninformed guess that while DMs spend more per person, the sheer number of players...

    DDXP Liveblogging

Me neither. If the goal is to increase the number of customers, whom are predominantly going to be players, then they very much do not want to raise the barrier to start being a DM. Higher prices mean less DMs; whether DMs spend more is irrelevant, it's basic economics.

    User IDs switched around?

No, just a Red ENWorld and a Blue ENWorld.

Early Access to Paragon and Epic Tier feats == disaster?

I think this is mostly a result of the early 4E design being focused on powers. The designers didn't want feats to do "cool stuff," so any that did got moved to Paragon. As a result, most of the Paragon tier feats aren't that overpowered for Heroic tier. They are some combos to watch out for...

    Being Human

The biggest problem I had with the US version versus the UK version was that it felt... wrong. I'm not sure how so; maybe the cinematography, or set design, or post-production. The best I can come to describing it is that it felt to "neat." I like Felon's use of the word "ambiance" - it...

Anne Hathaway cast as Selina "Catwoman" Kyle in upcoming Batman 3

A friend of mine and I were talking about this, and he pointed out something interesting. According to him, at no point in any of the official press releases do they mention Catwoman, only Selina Kyle. His theory (which I like) is that we knew Nolan was looking for two female leads - one as a...

    WotBS 3-man group for WotBS

I only have three players, and the companion characters work fairly decently. They actually work the opposite of how RangerWickett implied - they get a decent array of powers (one at-will, encounter, utility, racial, role-if-leader) but use vastly simplified math (and no feats). You can, of...

    1/19 D&D Insider Update

Please go to this page, check if it's on the Known Issues list, and report it if it is absent. The CB coders probably don't read this thread, and having it in the system should at least get it on the known issues list.

    Another solid article - Strongholds

Which is all (IMO) fluff, which I'm pretty sure I said I liked. :) I agree completely. My first thought after finishing it was "When are they going to print more?"

    Another solid article - Strongholds

I thought the fluff was neat, but the crunch was a little lacking and ill thought-out. For example, the Library. A +3 to a single skill check at Epic Tier? Weak sauce (especially at 85k). If the PCs are going to invest in a stronghold (as magic items), the skill bonus should be a +2/tier...

January: What are you reading for your penultimate year?

Finally read World War Z; I may have to read through it again to catch some of the little bits I think I missed. I'm actually debating a couple of different books to read right now, but I think I'll probably grab Dresden, since I liked the show and I hear good things about it here...

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

It will allow them more flexibility on their weekly schedule. They don't have to worry about integrating articles into a whole. If they miss an article out, they don't have to go and reformat their compilation. I may not like the weekly "schedule," and I use that term loosely, but the more...

So... how 'bout that Vecna article!

That skill power feat is just terrible. It would be nicer if it had a second effect on it. I'd go for something like a re-roll for a skill check on those skills.

WotC, really? No...really? You can't maintain a publishing schedule?

See, that's exactly what they shouldn't be doing. They're not magazines, they're e-zines. They're not bound by the same limitations and traditions that magazines have. IMO, aside from staffing, I'd say that their insistence on keeping to those magazine tenets is one of the biggest problems...

    Adventure path planning questions

Add me to the list that loves Cerebral Paladin's idea. And we all thought he (or she) was just a pretty face. :p The reason I like the idea so much is that it gives the designer more play to make the treasure seem organic. Rather than "300gp here," I'd rather there be a description of items...

    The Cape #1 & 2:Pilot/Tarot-Seadon 1/2011

Overall, I enjoyed it. It wasn't particularly deep, but I don't really think the show was trying to be. My impression was that they were drawing a lot of influence from comic books (as opposed to something like Heroes). Also, I suspect that they were favoring action over drama for the purpose...
