What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

There's also another way to handle them not getting gear until you want them to, or are willing to let them... "Okay. You can purchase it. If someone is selling, or if you can find someone to make it for you." Which can create adventure arcs all their own, employing a wide variety of skills...

Using Blood and Fists in d20Modern

Nah. I let people keep it as an option.

What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

Hmm... I see. Now I dislike it on principle because it's point based. ;)

What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

I dunno, Thanee... it looks like you're talking about scale, here... At every level for the basic classes, you have choices, this makes them pretty flexible... far more flexible than ANY of the D&D basic characters. The choices are from a list. Just like any other game (or several lists in the...

Way off topic. Totally off topic, but... Heap... excellent job on that SFX Skills: Diabolist book. I'm sure my wife will be throwing that stuff against us in our usual tabletop game... So, if there's new iconics for Modern Backdrops 3, it's because she killed our characters with your info. ;)

What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

I detest point based systems. In my experience, it leads to the absolute worst sort of min-maxing and powergaming... Two forms of gameplay I abhor. I know some people like that sort of thing, and that's cool for them, to each their own. I'd rather not game than to game with point based...

What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

Sooooo.... Basically you want the rules to do something they're not intended to do? While in the real world, a soldier can be smart, tough, fast, strong, charismatic and dedicated, in a gaming format there has to be some give and take. If you want high BAB, then you're likely giving up some...

What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

Yup, Vig. Me, too. I have a Smart hero in one campaign who is a techie, while I have a Smart hero in another campaign who is an anthropologist/adventurer. Tough hero in one campaign who rides a Harley and slays vampires. Tough hero in another campaign who is an ex Spec Ops type who drives...

What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

Actually... speaking from experience with Tonfa and with the PR-24 (metal version of the tonfa, police weapon)... When properly applied, the end of the tonfa confers slightly MORE PSI damage than your standard 9mm round. It deserves a higher amount of damage. But I'd almost make it an exotic...

What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

In a way, though my point I guess was more along the lines of "It's a safe pool to jump into" rather than taking a chance to write for an unknown quantity. A situation which magnified itself, really. "I'm not going to write for it, because it's new and unknown." "Look! I was right, nobody else...

What would you change for d20 Modern 2.0

Or maybe because there was a built in fanbase from the highest selling RPG of all time? Why choose a particular direction? I rather enjoy the toolkit technique. Like Urban Arcana, or Shadow Chasers, or Blood and Relics, or Pinebox, or any of a number of other distinctly D20 Modern settings...

    Best Rules for Automatic Weapons

I would say that depends on the weapon in question. Afterall, with the Personal Firearms Proficiency, I can fire a .22 semi automatic pistol (so little recoil that it's negligible), or a 9mm semi automatic pistol (enough recoil that it's noticeable and affects the aim on several quick shots)...

    Best Rules for Automatic Weapons

Well... if I'm not much mistaken (I'm no gun nut), Burst Fire is literally a setting that burns 3 or 5 rounds each time you squeeze the trigger, where Automatic just keeps firing as long as you're squeezing the trigger (until you're out of ammo). So, conceptually, they're exclusive one from the...

    d20 Superheroes...suggestions for setting sourcebook?

I dug them, quite a bit.

    Best Rules for Automatic Weapons

I dunno... How many 9th level spells only deal 2d12 damage? 4d12 with the Burst Fire feat (and the specific Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat for the weapon that deals in d12s). So... use it without burning a feat and suffer -8 to the roll, burn one feat and suffer -4 to the roll, or burn two...

Help me design my homebrew D20 Apocalypse

Then I would suggest another source, and an online novel as resource material... I would definitely suggest getting Year of the Zombie (13 reviews with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 possible is pretty telling) as a further source material... even if you don't want to run it in that setting...
