How do you store and carry your dice?

I use two plastic boxes. One mostly for d6s from various games and a second one for the other types of dice. I have tokens and glass beads. I also use a foldable dice tray.

    Opinions on Symbaroum?

For me the appeal is the 'relative' simplicity of the system compared to the d20 systems. Also it includes an easy to grasp and serviceable setting. It has the gritty feel I prefer for my campaigns. I also bought the starter set which comes with 5 pre-gen characters, a rules book and a setting...

Describe your last rpg session in 5 words

Give each player a secondary npc and keep rolling those dice! I've done it and works really well.

    Opinions on Symbaroum?

Haven't played yet but we are in the process of creating characters. Should play in a few weeks. I did a few solitary combat simulations by myself. It works really well. You certainly can play with just the Core Book using the two adventures at the back of the book. The system can be lethal...

D&D General Setting a campaign on a river

You must watch Deliverance by John Boorman if you have not already. The plot is the river.

So what are you reading this year 2021?

Finished Elfstones of Shannara. Much better than Sword of Shannara. Good for easy and lazy summer fantasy reading. Started Wishsong of Shannara.

    Failed Campaigns

I started a pbp d20 Modern campaign on the Gleemax forum. I had four players who made characters. When time came to play I described the opening scene at the specified date... and no one answered. I looked at the thread everyday for a week. No one responded. Turned me off pbp.

    Moving characters between campaigns

We never had a group of player large enough to do that. We did have two DMs and two campaigns but we never transferred a character from one group to the other. There was no need.

    Failed Campaigns

Savage Worlds with Interface Zero. Great start but had a random TPK (damage/soak) at session two. Players never wanted to play SW again.

D&D General WotC: Novels & Non-5E Lore Are Officially Not Canon

I don't use settings as published. I only cut & paste parts for me home-brew settings. Don't really care one way of another as long as there are cools ideas I can reuse with a bit of change. The only setting I ever cared about was the original Greyhawk because it was the default setting with...

D&D 5E (2014) WotC Is Designing Adventures With Shorter Content Chunks

A good decision. For the last 5 years we've played for about 3-4 hours (7-11pm). I feel like we are more focused with only 10 minutes of chitchat before and after the game. There are jokes of course but no major non-game discussions that last too long. This duration did not change with the use...

Anyone Else Tired of The Tyranny of Novelty?

Some people want to eat only American yellow mustard all their lives. Other people want to try every kind of mustard produced on the planet. I don't understand why some people are bothered by what kind of mustard other people put in their dishes.

Anyone Else Tired of The Tyranny of Novelty?

WoTC reports higher sales for 2019 and 2020. It can't be just canibalization of players from other games. There are a lot of new players in those numbers.

Not if the pool of buyers keeps growing at a faster rate.

Anyone Else Tired of The Tyranny of Novelty?

Commercial art is a product. Movies get regularly remade for the next generation of 14-25 moviegoers. If you can get their parents to show up because of nostalgia even better ticket sales. It has to be different because kids don't want to see the 'mom&pop' version and the 'mom&pop' don't want to...
