    D&D 5E (2014) Is "Mystic" a bad class name?

A Dragonlance might be run by an old schooler, but not necessarily. There is a portion of the fan base who continue with the 3.5 materials in Pathfinder. Likewise, a number of us also play Dragonlance using 5e. Back in 1e/2e, this was the case. Sovereign Press/Margaret Weis Productions took...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is "Mystic" a bad class name?

What would be optimal would be if they could meet in the middle. What I fear is the situation where a fan of the psionic mystic comes to Dragonlance and finds that DL's version of the mystic is a totally different beast. So if the 5e psion lands up being called the mystic, it would be nice if...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is "Mystic" a bad class name?

One of the spheres of mysticism in Dragonlance was called Mentalism. The Fifth Age mystic really could be divided into three D&D classes: the cleric (without gods), the druid, and the psion. It was the power of all living things, and of death. Really, domains can cover a lot of that. That...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is "Mystic" a bad class name?

When 3e came about, the sorcerer class was introduced. Dragonlance already had a sorcerer in the form of a Fifth Age role. Sovereign Press, who held the Dragonlance license, tried to create an alternate class to fit the DL sorcerer more, but WotC mandated that the DL sorcerer be the 3e sorcerer...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is "Mystic" a bad class name?

Green Ronin beat Paizo to it. ;) The Psychic's Handbook Excellent book, btw. BTW, how about an opinion poll on the name? Include mystic, psion, and psionicist as options for names (and maybe some others)?

    D&D 5E (2014) Is "Mystic" a bad class name?

The mystic was also a class from Dragonlance. In the Dragonlance Campaign Setting sourcebook, the mystic was the divine counterpart to the sorcerer, and predates the favored soul. It gained a single domain, which helped to define the character. Prior to that, the mystic was more of a role in the...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Variant Rules

I liked the idea of variant rules articles like this, but I thought it could have been done better. Vitality seemed a bit clunky to me. While it's not a system I would normally use, I could see it for some modern or scifi D&D games. Alignment - I sure would have liked to have seen some...

    Psionics Coming Soon To D&D?

This has me super-excited. :) My guess is that the psion will be a subclass of the sorcerer. The mechanics match up with prior editions pretty well. That being said, I was hoping for a full class with subclasses based around the psionic disciplines.

    D&D 5E (2014) (Fantasy) Sports?

Maztica had a ball game based on the Aztec ball game. I tried running it once, but it didn't turn out well. :(

D&D 5E (2014) ranger with panther companion as mount

I played something similar back in the 2e days. There was a kit for the Fighter called the Beast Rider. I came up with the concept of a Thundercat riding Battle Cat. I love white tigers too. Admittedly, a few liberties were taken with this character, and it was my early roleplaying days. ;) I...

D&D 5E (2014) Thematic Differences Between Paladin (Green Knight/Oath of the Ancients) and Ranger

One of the subclasses that has intrigued me in 5e is the Oath of the Ancients paladin (Green Knight). I know the mechanical differences, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to differentiate them from a thematic role-playing POV. They're both champions of nature, just in different ways...

Dragonlance Would you allow Kender outside of Dragonlance?

This is a point I've made numerous times. This is also akin to saying, "I'm just playing my alignment." This topic comes up every few months, and we tend to go round-robin on this. The arguments are circular. It's almost a part of gamer culture, unfortunately. A few people have had first-hand...

    Halfling/Hobbit Sourcebooks and Adventures

I am looking to run an all-halfling one-shot set in the Five Shires sometime in the future, but I need some help fleshing it out. What I am looking for are some sourcebooks or adventures to help me flesh it all out. I know of some D&D resources, but I was wondering if there were more. I know of...

D&D 5E (2014) Sean Macdonald's Prince of the Apocalypse maps. (Spoilers)

I've loved Sean's work on the maps he did for Dragonlance for Margaret Weis Productions. Glad to see he's doing work for WotC too. Way to go, Sean!

Could someone with this book post a synopsis of the Dragonlance conversion notes? Thanks in advance.

Monte Cook Games, Thunder Plains, & A Petition

This was a good response. Kudos to MCG for trying to represent Native American peoples in a respectful way. I have to wonder what the response to Riverwind and Goldmoon from Dragonlance would be in the modern era.

    PATHFINDER UNCHAINED at GAMA?

Considering that some folks refer to Pathfinder as 3.75, wouldn't that mean that instead of 1.5, it would really be 3.875? ;)

    [UPDATED] What's Paizo's "Big News"?

It would make sense to have Paizo do a Greyhawk AP, perhaps based on Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk (since Erik Mona, Jason Bulmahn, and James Jacobs worked on it). One can hope!
