    OotS 541

It's you. ;) But I tend to like Xykon & co., so it is perhaps my perspective that's skewed.

    10,000 B.c.

Pfft. They just don't want to recognize the truth that the Pyramids were landing platforms for Ha'tak-class vessels. :)

What made you realize you were facing COD-zilla?

Odd. I have books claiming it's an hour-long casting time. Maybe I'm remembering my 3.0 PHB.

What made you realize you were facing COD-zilla?

Shouldn't have been able to do that. Animate Dead has a casting time of longer than one full-round action and is, as such, ineligible for the Quicken Spell feat.

    Have you pre-ordered?

I have preordered all of them, though I currently harbor active hatred for much of what we've heard about the 4e mechanics. I withhold final judgment until I can see all the rules, however.

    Whiney players....

No, that's patently ridiculous. No reasonable person walks into a fair fight, let alone one in which they know to have a disadvantage. These are adventurers. Their lives are on the line. Why would they, absent ZOMG-this-dude's-gonna-destroy-my-city/nation/planet-RIGHT-NOW motivation, risk their...

You must be new here. ;)

    Ethics of Killing POWs

Don't forget to take its jaw. That way they can't use speak with the dead on it.

Desecrate and creating classed undead (permanent extra hitpoints)

The real kicker there is the ability to rebuke undead. Arcane necromancers are wussy by comparison.

    Ethics of Killing POWs

Just fine. My PC's a lich. :) I'd just pay those NPCs a visit in 1d10 days. But, more to the point, your scenario does not conform to my claims. I would expect that the NPCs would take issue with their prisoners causing them trouble to the extent that I wouldn't do it unless I was sure of success.

    Ethics of Killing POWs

When it comes to real-world people, I'd agree with you. Killing a POW is bad ju-ju (save when they've committed a capital crime and have been fairly judged, etc.). However, remember that a) this is a band of adventurers, not military personnel and b) we're talking about lizardmen here. They're...

    Ethics of Killing POWs

Nothing. The lizard was, with its attempts to draw guards down upon you, actively a threat. It's no different than it trying to take a weapon and fight its way out. He signed his own death warrant. Now, if the lizard had cooperated fully and hadn't tried to do you harm by leading you into a...

Help w/ Item Powers - Sword of 4 Souls

I don't have much in the way of helpful advice, so I'm just going to point out that the plural of seraph is seraphim.

    A few spellcasting questions

For Scorching Ray, you get new rays at 7th and 11th. As a general rule, the level of a spell doesn't change without the application of metamagic feats. So a 3rd level caster with one ray and an 11th with three cast Scorching Ray as a 2nd level spell. Similarly, a 1st-level caster with one...

    A few spellcasting questions

It should also be noted that you use the level of the spell appropriate for the character class in the calculation. For example, let's say that a cleric and a druid (each with Wis 16) are each casting Cure Serious Wounds on undead they are fighting. The undead are entitled to Will saves for half...

    D&D 4E Angels in 4e: a possible future problem

They tried it in 2e. I still shake my fist in revulsion at the terms "Baatezu" and "Tanar'ri".

    Sigil is in the DMG!

One of the things that always irritated me about Sigil was its location. "So the city is located above the spire of Concordant Opposition, despite the fact that even greater deities can come no closer than 100 miles to said spire?" "Yep!" "Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight." I might have been...

D&D 4E How do you feel about 4E right *now*? (week of 1/21/08)

nMage can burn. I'd go with MRev crunch with M2nd fluff. I do prefer oVampire, but I'd be willing to give Requiem a go.

D&D 4E How do you feel about 4E right *now*? (week of 1/21/08)

Thumbs down. I'm contemplating evolving more thumbs for the sole purpose of pointing them down. It's like they're actively trying to drive me away. No Vancian magic? Mucking about with wizards? Attack rolls for area spells like fireball? Reducing the number of magic items? Per-encounter...

Wait, that's how you say that?

For reference, I say Aladdin thusly: a-LAD-in Paladin, then, is PAL-a-din. For Archmage, I go with a soft "ch" sound, like in chair or church.
