The Great Glut of Gaming Guides at "Go away" prices...

Interesting. Putting aside the discussion of economics and business, it sounds like this sort of thing happening almost everywhere.

The Great Glut of Gaming Guides at "Go away" prices...

Greetings! Pardon the excessive alliteration. I was at Half-Price Books in Des Moines, IA, a few hours prior to making this thread. I saw a HUGE supply of gaming books, a lot of them new/not used, a lot of them WotC. Still, a lot were third party publishers. A lot of these same books were...

D&D 3.x Will there be a "Die Vecna Die" equivalent for 3E-4E?

I have Die Vecna Die and the Apocalypse Stone. Both were meant to end 2nd Edition Campaigns. The Apocalypse Stone is the far better of the two. It has a very "Book of Revelations" feel with plagues, famine, pestilence, and war. SPOILER: And the PCs are actually the one's who CAUSE the...

Dear WotC - You suck at names.

At least those names are better than some in the old modules... Beek Gwenders of Croodle Fonkin Hoddypeaks "Ogre" Edalsmirge And they couldn't even think up a name for Erac's Cousin. ;)

Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

Paizo lost the license for this! :D As a fellow writer, I think her writing style is rambling for reasons mentioned already. If this is the future of Dragon, Paizo is better off without it.

    Wilderlands Roll Call!

I own the 3.5 boxed set. I love it. I might consider running a future campaign there, but for now I steal ideas from it. I love the fact that I can open to random page and find a cool wilderness encounter. I might get the City State of the Invinicible Overlord. It think it'd be cool to somehow...

    The New Style

So, if 4E is like the D&D Cartoon, does this mean EVERY adventure will end in disappointment for the PCs? They'll always come a hair's breadth from reaching their goal, but with be thwarted by the villain or have to make some moral choice...because if the characters actually attain their goal...

1,001 ways they could screw up 4th Edition D&D...

    88. A Jar-Jar Binks-like character becomes an iconic.

    87. 4e is just 3.5 without all the errata and repackaged to look different, but the text is just the same.

1,001 ways they could screw up 4th Edition D&D...

    66. To cut production costs, the new D&D minis are shrunk to 6mm and come unpainted, but cost the same. 67. To further drum up sales, the 4e Player's Handbook has Gary Gygax listed as its author...though the lack of "Gygaxian Prose" within makes this obviously untrue. Gygax sues, reclaims D&D...

1,001 ways they could screw up 4th Edition D&D...

What are somethings that could cause 4th Edition totally unappealing to gamers? What if, 4th Edition D&D was complete flop, and why? 1. After releasing the Player's Handbook in May of 2008, WotC announces that the WORLD'S LARGEST PLAYER'S HANDBOOK will be released in September 2008, which has...

When you're an "evil" person, what non-evil term do you use to describe yourself?

I'm not good, I'm just better than you.

    The Aboleth!!

The Aboleth were really cool in the "Night Below." However, I think to emphasize their strangeness is to have them seemingly act illogically. According to the book "Lords of Madness" Aboleth have memories that stretch to the time before gods. So they'll act according to their own logic. For...

    D&D 4E In terms of theme, tone, and spirit, I hope 4e . . .

Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

I still buy WotC books...after they appear 1/2 price or less at a used bookstore, or if I really want it, 20-30% on Amazon. Let's face, the books have gotten expensive. And, if I'm not going to be able to use most of what's in a book, I won't feel as bad paying 1/2 price for it. Even then, I'm...

    D&D 4E In terms of theme, tone, and spirit, I hope 4e . . .

I agree with the original poster. I like 3.X art. It's okay. But most of it doesn't inspire wonder. When it comes to monsters, it brings to mind stat blocks, instead of making me wonder how this monster would interact with a group. And a lot of it is that half-anime stuff that's lots of spikey...

The percentage of women in gaming?

Fantastic! That's exactly what I was looking for! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! :D And thanks everybody for their input.
