Who are these guys: Rob Heinsoo, Andy Collins, James Wyatt

I agree. I also have my doubts about his work. The reason I am still optimistic about the 4e as a whole is the rest of the team and the other contributors. They also build on solid ground (d20 system) so it will be fine. But I agree, I would not nominate Andy Collins (with all respect to this...

    PHB, MM, DMG covers

The covers are good, although the logo itself might be a bit better, I guess.

    D&D 4E D&D 4E Style

Why the new logo looks such "oldish" to me... It is bit like 1960's or something. The rest is pretty fine, but the logo... is strange. Huh...

Do you think core rule books shrinkage is a good thing ?

You know... I don't measure rules quality by page count. I firmly belive that shorter, polished rules are worth more than over complicated ones. I am happy to pay for quality no matter how many pages it constitutes from. Random tables are not quality. Too many prestige classes, spells, feats...

Hey WotC, SHOW ME THE SLA!!!

Well... one thing is, it went down. OK. It is not good, but it might happen. The completely other thing is, it is still down. That is bad... very bad.

    D&D 4E Will you buy 4e?

I will do the same as I did with 3e and 3.5e. I will buy core rulebooks and I will be very picky with the rest. I have about 4 additional books to 3e and yet another 3 to 3.5e. There is no need to have everything. You then are only unhappy with new editions. ;)

Sales drought for WotC until mid-2008?

I am going to buy Greyhawk (I really like it) and than the transitional adventure in April (I forgot the name... Shadowfell was it?) In the mean time I will make myself happier with Star Wars Saga Books.

D&D 4E 4E: New power sources, new resource management

Saga has Force powers! It might be a hint, what kind of magic system will be used. It is about time to do something with Vancian. Hell, it eats 1/2 of PHB!

Seven things You Can Do to keep EN World a friendly place!

Nice rules. I wish the boards weren't so flooded with 4E threads. Maybe rule make a thread only if it doesn't fit into already existing one which is on first two pages of the boards. Please.

17% guessed 4th ed would be released, 83% did not.

Well... boat. Based on Comics & Games Retailer Magazine from last two years D&D line create about 60%of all sold books, D20 Modern about 3-4%. But D20 modern has less books in the line and no new realease. So it might be surprisingly strong seller. Although who knows. I still hope for D20 modern...

I think, they might actually anounce something about the future of d20 Modern. Reading this: Flagship game does not necessary mean D&D, does it?

Ryan Dancey on Redefining the Hobby (Updated: time elements in a storytelling game)

Well let's pretend, that you are right, and these games have those 2%. How much is that in absolute numbers? Somebody probably knows more about this, but let's say we have 5 millions of players worldwide. (Just my wild guess, but still). Those 2% woud mean 100,000 players than. Now compare that...

Ryan Dancey on Redefining the Hobby (Updated: time elements in a storytelling game)

Well... I think games, that hold per cent or more of the market are not marginal. So let's not limit us to D&D and World of Darkness. If I would also use the numbers from C&GRM show us that d20 Modern, GURPS, Shadowrun, Warhammer FRP, Serenity, Castles & Crusades, Hero System and BESM still...

Ryan Dancey on Redefining the Hobby (Updated: time elements in a storytelling game)

I hope, that you understand the fact, that the above mentioned activities form just marginal part of overall RPG business. One can take it as kind of a natural experiment with "different brand", "different aprroach" and see, that on global scale (impact on majority of consumers) this does not...

Ryan Dancey on Redefining the Hobby (Updated: time elements in a storytelling game)

One can sell system of tabletop game to PC RPG market. Or can license the setting. See Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, Planescape Torment, Knights of the Old Republic and so on. Try harder.
