Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

I would not neccessarily say it has been nerfed (not that a product that hasn't yet been released can be nerfed ;) ). I would say it has been more... standardised. The Wizard is no longer the equivalent of a flying deathcopter, destroying foes with waves of his fingers, while the Fighter...

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

I think I'll point out something that just occured to me about Mirror Image - it is clearly not designed to be a 'let's throw some defences up at the start of an encounter' spell, it's designed to be a 'oh crap, the fighter's down and the ogre with the massive club is coming to make a fine paste...

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

Well, it would be. Mirror Image is a daily power. Displacement is an encounter power. They should not be of equal awesomeness.

Y'know, I bet they accidentally put 'misses' instead of 'hits' on that page. Cause if that were the case the power is actually good.

Edit: What I said had already been said. D'oh.

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

Oh... well, that's certainly the case with the halfling racial power. I would've assumed it was the same for Displacement but if not the power is... slightly lamer. It just needs to be used with more caution. My comment about the Halfling Wizard still stands :p I certainly hope these are not...

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

As Wizards have already said that some text on that page was incorrect or has been changed, I wouldn't assume all those abilities will be in the same form when the PHB comes out in June. Mirror Image is, yes, completely useless as it can be broken by a housecat rolling 1s. I certainly hope it's...

Where do feats fall into this again?

Nope, there are definently some interesting feats that have been reveal so far, such as: Golden Wyvern Adept Tier: Paragon Benefit: You can omit a number of squares from the effects of any of your area or close wizard powers. This number can’t exceed your Wisdom modifier. Taken from this...

    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

Resting periods? In WoW? Y'mean when I went offline to sleep, or the five minutes I spent between fights to regain mana and health, because I have used my RESOURCE-DEPENDANT (i.e. NOT at-will) spells and cannot self-heal at all in combat. Y'know, like Second Wind would allow. I would also love...

    Pregen Defenses

From what I can see on the pregen sheet, the Halfling gains no bonuses or penalties for being small. None! He doesn't seem to be gaining any bonus to hit (I assume a Shortsword is a prof 3 weapon), no bonuses to his defences, no bonuses to skills... Apparently being small now just means you're...

New Monster Stats (Dungeons of Dread)

Um... those ARE the 4E stats.

    Damage Scaling

You seem to be misunderstanding the point I am trying to convey. Monsters may be designed to TAKE INTO ACCOUNT that players have the +1/2 bonus. The monsters do not get such a bonus, as they DO NOT NEED IT to function as legitimate threats to the PCs. Infact, giving such a bonus to the monsters...

    Damage Scaling

Unless the system math takes such a bonus into account, in which case it's perfectly fair. Plus, as the system already assumes you want your PCs to get out of an equal-level encounter intact, it's arguably already tilted in the PCs favour from the get-go.

    Damage Scaling

Actually, the monsters and PCs may not be necessarily balanced if such a situation was in place. I'm going to do some math, but I do realise I am making ALOT of assumptions here about how characters level. The main two assumptions are ability scores go up at the same rate as in 3.5 and SWSE and...

    Pregen Defenses

I think the original poster is correct, as your values don't make sense given the pregen characters. I also don't see why you have to have a +4 and +5 armour.

I think Barbarians should be strikers, or maybe even controllers

To me that is the picture perfect definition of what a 'Defender' should do. He's holding back the monster horde from getting at the squishy characters, and that says 'Defender' to me far more than 'Controller'.

The Runecarved Eidolon - Weird monster

I imagine it has less than half the hp of the hooked horror because this thing is quite difficult to kill without needing a huge amount of hp, and if it DID have a huge amount of hp everyone would be complaining that they could never kill the thing ;)

    Bards: Arcane or Shadow?

Great, now I'm thinking about Paladins riding around on giant celestial chickens  I think the bard will probably be the leader class for whatever power source the sorceror is involved with (who I see as being a Controller). They always seemed to have some kind of link to me.

    Damage Scaling

I remember someone somewhere (maybe in the latest WotC podcast?) mentioning that you will start rolling extra damage dice for your weapons as you level up. Now, this might just have been a Fighter-specific feature, as I think they were discussing the class, but I do see it being a possibility...

I think Barbarians should be strikers, or maybe even controllers

If anything I would still see that as primarily being a Defender. We've already seen that the 4e Fighter has some ability to 'throw people around', albeit 1 square (the Tide of Iron power) and I reckon that whirlwind attack and such will be daily or maybe even encounter powers for the Fighter...
