    D&D 3.x Will you still play 3.5?

Considering we're about to actually start a 3.5 game, yeah, I am. It'll be a while before 4th offers all the potential archetypes in 3.5 (I, for one, can't wait for an Enchanter/Beguiler class that's not completely nerved by undead and constructs, for once).

D&D 4E Raiders of Oakhurst: A 4E Fan Playtest Adventure

Love the post, Nebulous :). The screenshots make it especially sweet. I know, which is why I suppose it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Although I might throw in a fight like this after I've finished the actual adventure, when everybody's more familiar with their characters. Something along...

D&D 4E Raiders of Oakhurst: A 4E Fan Playtest Adventure

I'm still deciding if I'm going to use this adventure for my own 4th Playtest, or end up just writing my own (a mixture of the skill challenge and a good ol' bandit fight). Particularly the dragon fight just looks nasty to me, and even though they're playing with pregens, I'm not gonna throw...

    Making your own power cards

Thanks a bunch, mates. I'm going to run a 4th playtest in a couple of weeks, and these will come in very handy indeed.

Request for Dedication to Gary Gygax

This is very fitting, indeed. RIP mr. Gygax, and thank you for your work.

    Fighters -must- wear heavy armor

You comparison is flawed, since it's too general, and fails to list dex's limitations. We're comparing Str and Dex for Fighters here, melee fighters at that, not in general. With that in mind, let's look at your dex advantages again. Dex: - Adds to ranged attacks -> Unrelevant to a melee...

So, what Class are you dying to play?

Since I'm a sucker for mages, a warlock, and a wizard. I like the 'making pacts' flavour of the Warlock for RP purposes (making deals with amoral entities for moral reasons? Sounds promising), and the combination of blasting, cursing, and summoning sounds like a fun way to fight. It reminds me a...

    What's your game plan?

Option 2. In fact, by the time 4th comes around, I'm hoping to start in a new D&D group, and we've agreed we definitely want to try it out. Most, if not all, what I've heard about 4th sounds like they're going in the right direction, and after reading the preview books I'm looking forward to...

    High Initiative?

Not necessarily. In 3.x, a melee specialist can have an advantage going after the monsters, depending on the type of monster you're fighting. After all, a full attack (the most powerful attack option available) only works if you use a full-round action, so that leaves at most a 5-foot step to...

New article Design and Development Article on Magic Item Slots

Hrm... while I was hoping for an elimination of "necessary" magic items, I suppose that was a little too much to hope for. After all, as stated before, then anyone who does hand out magic weapons to his players has to boost the monsters in his campaign accordingly to keep up the challenge...

Could we please have a non evil/ammoral pact for Warlocks? :)

I think his point was that if you make good Warlocks possible, the classic Warlock archetype of "I sold my soul to an evil demon, to gain power to do good" becomes null and void. After all, he could just have made a Good pact and gained his powers that way.

D&D 4E 4e Wizards - No More Necromancers, Enchanters, Summoners???

Let me take your metaphor and look at it from another angle. Take the example of a PC OS, and compare XP to a supposedly perfect-working Vista (yeah, I know, big supposition, but we're being hypothetical here). Now suppose said XP has had support of 3rd party programmers for years, and people...

D&D 4E 4e Wizards - No More Necromancers, Enchanters, Summoners???

And, pray tell, how well did a Necromancer, Illusionist, Conjurer, or Enchanter work in 3.x? Specialist wizards were not noticeably better at their specialty than others, the only relevant difference being the one bonus spell per level one was forced to spend on the specialization. What's more...

4th ed, the Good & the Bad?

NO MORE LEVEL DRAIN - Great. Always hated it. Too much bookkeeping for too little effect. NO MORE ABILITY DRAIN - Good. See Item 1 NO MORE ETHICAL ALIGNMENTS - About friggin' time. Alignment is one of the most miss-used and ranted-on parts of D&D, and its effect on mechanics has always been a...
