RPG Crowdfunding News – Sands of Doom, Black Sword Hack, Epic Levels, and more

Yeah, I back a lot of his stuff that I’m not sure I’ll even use as I know he does great work and it’s only $1. He’s well and truly earned his reputation at this point.

RPG Evolution - EN World Columnists Update: New Year, New Columns!

I was about to ask if that meant no more Tailen, then I saw who the article was written by! 😂

D&D 5E (2014) Horde of the Dragon Queen minis list

They’re definitely more fragile than Bones and GW plastic. How much more fragile, I’m not sure. I do use 20% Siraya Tech Tenacious in my prints, which improves their flexibility and durability, but I still wouldn’t be confident that the mini would survive a drop.

D&D 5E (2014) Horde of the Dragon Queen minis list

Thinking about this more, I’ve realised I’ve actually swung very hard in favour of 3D minis now, to the point that I’m much less likely to buy a physical mini unless it offers something unique compared to a 3D printed mini. The other exception would be really large minis or terrain, which is...

D&D 5E (2014) Horde of the Dragon Queen minis list

We’ve got 2 people in my group with one. They’re definitely becoming more common.

D&D 5E (2014) Horde of the Dragon Queen minis list

The biggest advantage we have with finding specific minis now for adventures is that 3D printing has opened up so many more sculpt options.

WotC Announces OGL 1.1 -- Revised Terms, Royalties, and Annual Revenue Reporting

So, if the new OGL isn’t as good, why would publishers not just keep using the current OGL? I’m assuming there’s some sort of benefit to using the new OGL?

D&D Movie/TV New Footage & Poster For D&D: Honor Among Thieves Movie

I don’t know how they’ve done it, but I’m actually looking forward to seeing this movie, which is amazing given how underwhelming the previous movies have been.

D&D General Dragon+ Content Going Away -- Whoops, It's Gone!

I’ve been playing 5E for years now and have never used any of WotC’s online tools. I have used some online stuff, but mainly just to quickly check rules during a session. So using mainly physical books has never been an issue for our game and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

D&D General Dragon+ Content Going Away -- Whoops, It's Gone!

The fewer books was to extend the longevity of the edition. It costs a lot of money to come up with a new edition and WotC would rather keep the current one chugging along slowly with minimal salaried staff and make their money from their IP, rather than churning out book after book.

D&D General Dragon+ Content Going Away -- Whoops, It's Gone!

And yet my hardcover books and physical minis from my fortnightly in person game are completely unaffected. Virtual tabletops are great for when you can’t game in person, but my group couldn’t wait to get back to gathering around the same table. A couple even sat out until we could do so as...

D&D General Dragon+ Content Going Away -- Whoops, It's Gone!

Yep, they can cancel Dragon, but my Dragon Magazines are still sitting where I left them on my bookshelf. It’s also why I prefer to buy CDs and DVDs and rip them to my computer, then add them to my media server, rather than rely on Spotify l, Netflix or the like. If I own the media, it can’t be...

D&D General Dragon+ Content Going Away -- Whoops, It's Gone!

I’ve spent a considerable amount more than that on my hobby stuff, but none of that was essential to playing the game. I did it because I wanted to. On the flip side, I’ve got a player on my group that has played for over a decade without buying anything more than some dice. I think we’ve...

D&D General Dragon+ Content Going Away -- Whoops, It's Gone!

That might be the case for you, but it’s definitely not my group’s experience. My group has spent way less on 5E than we did on 3.5E and we’re having just as much fun now with our games as we were a decade ago.

I can understand not continuing it, but why remove all the previous content?

RPG Evolution: When Half the Party Shows Up

Our rule is that if 2 or more people (out of 7) are missing, we play our alternate campaign, which is completely separate and set up for people to be there one session and not the next. Then we just play every second Thursday unless most of us aren’t available. Trying to always ensure everyone...

How? I can roll my dice on any small flat surface, even if that’s an open book or the battlemat.

    D&D General It's Time For D&D Lego!

That’s what I was thinking. Maybe I’m overestimating LEGO sales, but 1% of sales is a lot. I wonder if it’s meant to be 1% of the profits?
