Critical Role Wildemount: Most Pre-orders Since D&D Core Rulebooks

If it's any consolation, so far WOTC seems largely uninterested in revisiting anything (campaign-setting related, at any rate) outside of the Realms, no matter how well it sells. D&D Stranger Things had tons of hype, Curse of Strahd is often cited as the "best" adventure so far on a great many...

    Lay-offs at Fantasy Flight Games?

For the RPG side alone, I simply can't imagine a model that continues to be cost effective for them with the likely exorbitant prices they must be paying for a SW license, and the fact that they pretty much dried up their release schedule by launching three big game books (with a lot of...

WotC New D&D Stream Replaces Dice, Camera, Action!

I wonder how much of that is because "threat of death" and TPKs are not something that translate well to long-term investment of a streamed game series. It's odd to me that even these big-name DMs don't really take a lot of the advice out there of "how to set stakes that matter, even if death...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeons & Dragons Vs. Rick and Morty: A Review

Certainly to a degree. I mean, there's a couple scenes in the very beginning that specifically talk about roleplay, but don't give you a lot of reasons to be roleplaying because they are at best info dumps. There's also an unstated thread through the adventure that the designers mentioned that's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeons & Dragons Vs. Rick and Morty: A Review

Agreed. I'd like to see these hit both notes: (1) be a gateway thing that generates some buzz and is a fun combo of franchise+D&D, and (2) is replayable. Both the original Starter Set and the Essentials Kit are easily expandable and replayable with just the contents of the box, never mind what...

DeScriptors: Realms Volume 1 is out now!

DeScriptors: Realms Volume 1 presents the diceless DeScriptors RPG in three all-new settings from Matthew Bannock! This guide begins with a one-page version of the DeScriptors RPG rules, including the latest errata and updates for clarity. Then, three settings are presented, each one complete...

Do You Know Your Glaive-Guisarme From Your Bohemian Earspoon?

A great point. Being able to compile this stuff so that we have realistic versions and more fantastical stuff...and keep it separate! That'd be awesome. But with very few exceptions, this stuff is just left picture-less and poorly described in most RPG releases.

D&D General DMs Guild Roundup: Encounters in Avernus and More

Yeah, I don't know when I'll find time to really dig into it, but it looks amazing. As a fan of old school play, seeing some of the stuff in Acquisitions Inc and then this release really scratches an itch that unfortunately I don't get to see in play all that much.

You could. And if you don't, I will be very disappointed in you. :p

    D&D 5E (2014) Essentials Kit D&D Beyond Adventures?

I've been reading Acquisitions Inc. on the DNDBeyond App on my tablet and it's really great. Better than most of my book and comic book apps, in fact.

Domille’s Wondrous Character Sheet Out Now on DMsGuild!

What would you like on the spell sheet? We purposely left the combat/spellcasting section open for that in an attempt to remain minimalist. Here's how I picture it being filled out:

D&D 5E (2014) Here Are The Races In The New Eberron Book

I've run Planescape in 5E with minimal work; just had to fit Factions into the 5E rules, and folks have already done that work for me. (Alternative) Only think missing is psionics, which I've never cared about that much, anyway, and there are DMsGuild releases plus the Mystic class that cover...

D&D 5E (2014) Here Are The Races In The New Eberron Book

They'd be foolish to NOT have Greyhawk -- specifically Castle Greyhawk -- as a 50th anniversary release. (Of course, there's all the drama around Gail Gygax, though, so it might not be worth it from a financial standpoint.)

D&D General A Chat With 'Solasta' 5E Video Game Developers

Yeah, plus it gets room to have some things that aren't 30+ year old stuff we're all bored by at this point. If part of the gameplay is about discovering and exploring the larger world, having some different races, archetypes, backgrounds, and so on goes a long way toward making it feel...

Keith Baker and Jenn Ellis working on a The Adventure Zone Tabletop RPG

Interesting! Not to derail the thread much, but could you sum up a few reasons why? I loved a lot of Dungeon World, but when I ran it, I found myself immediately -- almost subconsciously -- houseruling several things. So obviously while I liked some bits, there were others that I simply...

Keith Baker and Jenn Ellis working on a The Adventure Zone Tabletop RPG

Interesting. I didn't know they've moved to PBtA, but that makes sense. They play so fast and loose with D&D that this probably makes sense for folks looking for a similar "template" to play from: much of D&D's downtime systems and more involved combat strategy stuff doesn't really seem like...
