Your gaming outlook in any of the places other than New Haven is unfortunately pretty bleak, I'd have to guess. Indianapolis has a pretty good scene, so you'd probably have to drive there from Muncie or Terre Haute.

So, has the idea been dropped? I would be interested in either a formal game day in the Columbus area or just a weekly informal-type thing as well. I typically play D&D 3.0 and 3.5 and D&D minis.

Yes, but remember, a familiar is worth much more than one feat. Having a familiar even gives one a feat for free (Alertness). I don't have the PHB in front of me, but a familiar gives you way more than that, even. It's even fairly sturdy as a meleer with half your hit points.

I can definitely be there! Is the "new gaming store" you are talking about the one in Dublin? I would highly recommend not holding it there. The place is not very big, and there is very little product/inventory to check out. Also, they do not sell refreshments of any kind. How about the...

It's really not, though. It's branded under the new 4th Edition "Dungeons and Dragons" logo unlike the other two Practical Guides. It's not mentioned on the Mirrorstone site, only the main D&D site. It reads like it's written for kids, but it hasn't necessarily been marketed that way.

My local game store is *giving* these things away. Buy $75 worth of stuff and get this POS for free. I bought it anyway (I'm a completist for WotC stuff) and the owner mercifully gave it to me for $10. He said he would "feel dirty" charging me full price for it.

Thanks everyone.. I had a good time in the afternoon D&D game. I would have liked to stick around for the Barrier Peaks, but I wasn't feeling that great. Any chance of turning this into a more frequent event? I'd be willing to play in and possibly run some D&D 3.5. The drive from the west side...

dshai527, are you still planning to run the D&D game next Saturday if we only have two players? I'm just thinking that I really don't want to drive out there from Columbus and have it be canceled.... what is the status, please? :)

$10 is way too much to ship 3 modules a few hundred miles IMO. I was going to order them but thought better of it.

The first issue was pretty good; much better than expected. If KQ came out with a print version, I'd subscribe for a nominal cost.

Have you seen the maps in Fantastic Locations: The Frostfell Rift? A couple of them in there sound like they might fit. I haven't seen the map from the new D&D Icon (Icingdeath) but that one might work, too.
