JPL, These games sounds like a blast! Why can't you get a regular group? It can't be your sales pitch! (edited for punctuation)

Hero's Guide Chat Tuesday June 24

Curses! I just saw this post now. Is there a transcript of the chat availible? Got URL? Thanks. :)

    [Polyhedron] Iron Lords of Jupiter

JPL, Using Thri-Kreen is as brilliant as it is simple! :) Keep the ideas coming people, Jupiter is vast, and we're unlikely to overpopulate it! What about some sort of sea monster to inhabit the Vast Ocean? Based on a giant squid is the obvious route, I would imagine. It's skin is sticky...

    [Polyhedron] Iron Lords of Jupiter

Yeah, this game looks awesome! And I think the cover art is some of the funniest I've ever seen! (and well done to boot!) I second Imhotepthewise with a plea for more info on the monsters. I've sort of committed to running this soon, possibly before the next issue of Poly comes out. :0...

    WTB: The Witchfire Trilogy

While we're on the topic, if you didn't get the Mosternomicon yet, I HIGHLY reccomend it! After reading just a few entries, I am full up with scenario ideas for Iron Kingdoms. Good luck in your search!

    WTB: The Witchfire Trilogy

Yeah, I don't know if you checked the ENWorld store, but I just did and also found only parts 1 and 3. I think it's a conspiracy. ;) Did you try the Privateer Press site and/or can your local game store order them for you? Good luck!

    Green Ronin June Release Dates?

Iron Chef, I've been to lots and lots of conventions and I'd have to say it's "hit or miss". I've found that smaller conventions can actually be more fun, but then, this is my first year going to GenCon and seeing what a "big convention" really is. Also, from your comments, I'd advise being...

    The ENWorldian work ethic.

My situation is similar to that of KDLadage. I work a tech job where it's either too busy to even open a web browser, or so slow as to make you cry. So when it's slow, my boss is cool with PG-rated surfing, as long as my (outstanding) quality of work isn't affected. ;)

Zogg, Please don't get me wrong. I think that there are a lot of video games out there that look great! And I see nothing inherently wrong with anyone that plays them . So, dissing Computer games/gamers was totally not the point of my post. In fact, if anything, I'm afraid to try several...

I have never played a video game on my home computer. I've had a home computer for about 7 years and have been playing RPGs for 21. Just not interested.

    Star Wars Hero's Guide Review

I got the book over the weekend and it is totally cool! I'd say the only problem I have with it so far is that it really makes me want to play (I am the GM)! I espescially love the prestige classes for Droids. Too funny. I have to agree that scenario ideas are just jumping out at me! Can't...

XP: The Star Wars method in D&D

Sure, I'll try. Though the author makes it really clear in the game. (and the game itself rocks, I reccomend looking for the back issue, try the Paizio site) Basically, if the PCs spend the whole game hiding, and avoiding trouble, they get as little as 0 xp. If they step up, look for trouble...

    Star Wars Hero's Guide Review

OK, I did a little digging around and it looks like this book got released on June 5th or thereabouts. That's good news. :)

XP: The Star Wars method in D&D

RobNJ, You might want to check out the "free-form xp system" found in the Omega World mini-game from Polyhedron. It's how I do XP for Star Wars, and pretty much every other game I run. ;)

    Star Wars Hero's Guide Review

Phil, Great review! I'm sold! ;) One point of concern (for me), though, is that the Guide includes notes on Force Spirits. Are these the same notes included in the Power of the Jedi sourcebook (the one I recently bought)? Though, even if they are, the Archetypes sound too cool to miss out...

    Geonosis, Barsoom and homebrews

Hey, I don't know if this is old news to you, or if it will help, but the next Polyhedron mini-game is Iron Lords of Jupiter, which is reportedly based on the Mars works of Burroughs (and Jack Vance sci-fi as well). In fact, in preparation, I even did a search for "Jupiter" on Google, and...

    Rules vs. Story oriented game...

Cergorach, I agree that D&D can be seen as a little rules-heavy. However, you seem to be cognizant of the fact that the DM is the final arbiter of what rules are used and what rules are not. That is a good thing. ;) You pointed to D&D's massive rules set as one of it's strengths, in that it...

SWRPG: Starships o/t Galaxy and A&EG

While I can't tell you much about SotG, as I have yet to pick it up, I can tell you that the Arms & Equipment Guide is really great! In fact, just this past Wednesday, a player in my game picked the guide up and said, "Hey, this is great!". It just doesn't get any better than that!

    Opinions sought on WoT RPG

Something else just occurred to me as well: I remember the popularity that "plain" D&D has in the military (a good thing, to be sure!). If you're itching to run WoT, but have players asking for D&D, nothing says you can't gradually incorporate WoT elements into your game. The obvious place to...
