    The biggest RPGs

I don't play D&D or Pathfinder. Haven't since I spent a few months trying out 4E. So been what? Over 2 years now. So all the "other" RPG's are what matter to me. Castles and Crusades, Shadowrun, Traveller, Legend of the 5 Rings, FATE games, Star Wars SAGA, Eclipse Phase, CORTEX, Savage Worlds...

    Use Magic Device

Have to admit it helped me fall in love with thieves in 1E. I had a habit of "collecting" scrolls and spell books, so when I reached 10th level and could all of a sudden use them, I had a lot more fun. Still, a far cry from being able to universally use items. Then again, in 1E a lot of classes...

    Use Magic Device

Not 1E. The best they got in 1E was their ability to read magic user and cleric scrolls. At 10th level. They don't have a universal "use magic device" ability in 1E. Unless it was made available in Unearthed Arcana, Dragon mag, or some other book, but it is not in the PH write up. I don't...

Tome of Horrors getting a second print run...

Technically it is now Frog God Games, but yeah, if you pretty much exclusively use pre written modules and the monsters written within, you don't really need any monster books. Heck, I still own the original 3 ToH's and still bought this, but I got the S&W version, since the originals are...

Tome of Horrors getting a second print run...

Yeah, I know what a Kickstarter is, Rite publishing seems to use that model a good bit. I don't have a clue if Bill and Co. would even be interested in doing such a thing. Then again, they did the pre order thing primarily so they could AFFORD to even order the print run in the first place, so...

    Use Magic Device

I for one prefer the "iconic" nature of C&C, etc... but if I were to allow this to be possible in C&C I would definitely restrict it to Rogue, and maybe even Assassin at maybe 3 levels lower behind the rogue, kind of how the Paladin turns undead 2 or 3 levels below his own level. I'd probably...

    Basic Fantasy Role-playing game?

Back when I was needing something to keep me in the hobby, after 3E burned me almost completely out, this was the "next game" I was going to use if Castles and Crusades didn't work out. Its very simple, straightforward, and feels very complete. Much like C&C it won't take much work to use a lot...

Tome of Horrors getting a second print run...

I sure hope they do, but like was posted by Clark in the Paizo thread I linked above, they fronted $45 THOUSAND for the first print run to get printed. These guys are not some big rich company who can afford to eat ANY of that money. Bill and company have real jobs to pay their bills with. So I...

Tome of Horrors getting a second print run...

Bill and Clark were expecting it to take 9+ months to sell through, or at least that is what Clark posted among those posts in that Paizo thread I linked above. So selling out in under 12 hours has their minds collectively blown. I've advised Bill to sit back, take some deep breathes, etc...

Tome of Horrors getting a second print run...

at least the Pathfinder version. If you want the S&W version in print, if you don't have it by now, you likely won't get it, except from eBay sellers. For full details of the why's, where for, etc... read here...

    Ravenloft Collector's Guide

You seem to be saying the Ravenloft "Fraternity of Shadows" website no longer exists, but it does, and the forums even have recent posts: Ravenloft: Fraternity of Shadows: Home of Ravenloft on the Net I also clicked on several of the links, and each of the ones I tried still provided a down load.

Poll: What is the highest level you've ever gamed to?

In 1E my highest level PC played from first level was 27/35 dual class. We had tables worked up carrying on the progression the books established. 2E, my highest level XP character was probably my 27th level Paladin. In 3E my highest level PC was a Rokugan Samurai played up to level 54, with a...

Mongoose Traveller - how is it?

Have to admit that change did have me "up in the air" about Mega T when it came out , but I decided to give it a try and haven't had any desire to go back. Even though I can, I have played in Con games of Classic Traveller and had no problems with it, but neither did it awaken a desire in me to...

Mongoose Traveller - how is it?

I started with Classic, stuck the longest with MegaTraveller, and have been using Mongoose as my "base line" for a couple of years now. I find the Mongoose version to be very much like Classic, just with a lot more content. Like Classic, and especially MegaTraveller, Mongoose has had some...

How fast do your PCs level up?

My current campaign is based on a lot of classic modules, expressly to play through them. So in this campaign they level when the modules call for them to do so. No xp awards.

Gold, Earth's very own starmetal or warpstone?

Well, considering that 4 to 5 billion years ago our entire planet came from "space", I'm not surprised.

    Judges Guild... I think?

I'd forgotten Blackmoor was put in Mystara as well. <Maybe this site will help you figure out what map you had? Mystara's Ancient Past - Blackmoor

    Judges Guild... I think?

Only other map I remember having Blackmoor on it is the Greyhawk/Oerth maps. So if you had either the Greyhawk boxed set or folio maps? It was definitely either JG or TSR, as far as I recall of Blackmoor getting published at that time.

    "Everyday" Spells

Break out the old "Greyhawk Adventures" book. Plenty of "every day" type spells in there.
