Planescape Monsters of Planescape WotC video

I dig the monsters in the Planescape release. They're pretty well suited for adventures in and around Sigil and the Oustlands. That being said (plug plug), if you're looking for MOAR MONSTARS to populate your infinite planes, check out Monsters of the Infinite Planes! I'm pretty happy there's...

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

I caught Dial of Destiny a few days ago, and it was ... fine. It was a fine movie. Nothing great, but yeah about as good as Temple of Doom (and still more cohesive than Crystal Skull). My biggest complaint is actually the missed opportunities to get down and dirty with the idea of grief...

D&D 5E (2014) Planescape, Bigby, Phandelver and the Deck of Many Things: Covers & Details Revealed!

As I developed the content for my Codex of the Infinite Planes articles (collected here in a cool hardcover at the DMsGuild!), Sigil was one of the no-no areas - I actually had to pull down the original Codex PDF because I had two references to Sigil in the text! I'm selfishly glad they are...

Planescape Bouncing some Planescape campaign ideas

Might I recommend my Codex of the Infinite Planes book? Like you, I found the Planescape content to be focused on a handful of planes. While Sigil isn't available on the DMsGuild, the general planar content is, so I took that and built out codex entries for each of the 16 Outer Planes, the 4...

DMs Guild Horrors of Mount Throndor - Tier 3 Adventure PDF/POD!

HORRORS OF MOUNT THRONDOR A Dungeons & Dragons adventure of exploration and madness for character levels 11 to 16 Many centuries ago, the dwarven kingdom of Sarphil stretched out across the Galena Mountains east of the Moonsea. They dug for the precious metals hidden beneath the rocky terrain...

D&D General Sir Plane "Not Appearing in this Cosmology"

Say what you will about AI art but it's helpful to visualize some of the weirder aspects of the planes. I hope no one steals my adventure "Ruby Light of the Fire Whales"!

D&D General Sir Plane "Not Appearing in this Cosmology"

YES! This 100%. Exactly how I felt about Planescape as a setting and the products released to support it. I'll add that I didn't care for the unreliable narrator aspect most of the books had as well - fun to read as a narrative, not fun to parse through as a DM to figure out how to use at the table.

D&D General Sir Plane "Not Appearing in this Cosmology"

I mean, sure. But so it goes with every setting - it's individual locations that make it cool. Waterdeep is cool. Faerun is filler. Etc., etc. The benefit of the larger setting for those cool locations for me is "associative imaginative thought processing" (patent pending). Start with a known...

D&D General Sir Plane "Not Appearing in this Cosmology"

I think all of the planes in the Great Wheel are heckin' cool (as the kids say?) because it's imagination bound by the flimsiest of rules - which, sure, you can apply to any general D&D setting. But the planes are a framework established within the history of the game as a place where the "rules...

    Adventure Writing Basics: Part 1

Excellent advice! Also, as an adventure designer, absolutely understand the failure state. Anytime you call for a check in the adventure, you risk failure. If the adventure requires something to happen or be found, don't gatekeep it behind a check. Instead, consider changing the framing of the...

Power Rankings: Weird Al's Top 26 Songs

I don't have any real arguments against anything on this list. Though you seem to be missing Albuquerque (one of my personal faves under The Originals), and I have a soft spot for Trapped in the Drive-Thru, which I did not realize was a parody (well, stylistic parody at least). I'd also make an...

D&D 5E (2014) List the character types and level of your current 5E games

I'm only playing/running in one game right now. Been going since March 2020, Voyage of the Final Dawn (planar-focused campaign), looking to end at 20th-level by the end of this year (or shortly into 2023). Githyanki Fighter 11 (Psi Warrior)/Sorcerer 6 (Draconic Bloodline) Aasimar Paladin 16...

Conan the Barbarian 9 Conan the Destroyer 17-2 = 15 LotR 21 Willow 10 Krull 11+1 = 12 Is Krull an awesome movie? Yes, yes it is :D But for this poll, I think it's one of the best D&D movies - band of heroes of varying skill and competence go on a quest to save their kingdom/princess from an...
