    D&D 4E Combining Vancian and Will/Daily from 4E

Exactly! Pathfinder did that. It made sense, cantrips at will don't really unbalance anything (save for a few, like the ones you mentioned), plus it does really fit the whole wizard/sorcerer vibe.

[DCC RPG] I have the pdf of the finished rules and I’m glad I do

Do you have a link to somewhere where I might find more information on this? A new modern system intrigues me since Wizards seems to steadfastly ignore the fact they ever made d20 modern. (come on 5e modern!) A change up of systems would be good. As I swear, if we change back to playing Rifts...

    D&D 4E Combining Vancian and Will/Daily from 4E

This is what I'm thinking along the lines of as well. Remember Ray of Frost? Maybe something like that, just a little more powerful or what have you. Throwing darts as a wizard just never made any sense to me.

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

"Well I think I'm on the last watch shift, so someone can use my bed." Reianne laughs, "It'll be prewarmed for whomever wants it. A bit better than the ground I'd wager." Reianne watches as Lem and Ru take care of the horses, from where the bedrolls are setup, content to sit back until called upon.

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

"Well that sounds good. I'm going to turn in then." Reianne leaves her sword and buckler in easy reach, and tries semi successfully to make herself as comfortable as she can in her bedroll in her armor. Had to look it up, as I didn't remember either. Goddess bless whomever maintains the pfsrd...

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

Enjoying the bounty that Galandra had brought down, and that Lem had expertly prepared, Reianne leans back a bit as Lem explains the physical and metaphysical benefits of food in maintaining personal balance, not quite understanding everything but nodding along. "Well Lem, your cooking was...

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

Getting somewhat more used to riding Buttercup, Reianne sways a bit easier in the saddle than she did earlier as she takes in the sights along the main road. "A lot quieter here than back home. Kind of nice actually," she mumbled to herself quietly. morning of the third day is fine with me...

D&D Next (5E) Updates, Pax East, and a Poll

That is something that I would be down with. Vancian at the core, so it is true to most past editions but a modular approach for those who want a little something extra. (maybe at-wills, meta magic what have you)

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

Quietly in return Reianne whispers, "They aren't worth it. I don't think a little trick is worth a fight now is it? Besides," Reianne looks back and raises her voice in what she hopes is a menacing tone, "I think it's time they found something else to do besides harass heavily armed travelers."

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

Confused, and then aggravated by the farmhand's attempts to mislead them. Reianne rides forward toward the exit they had intended to use, but casts a sidelong scowl at the farmhands as she trots by. "Let's just get out of here and fast. I don't think Mesem can deal with this for much longer."...

    Poll: Starting Point for Campaigns

I generally start my campaigns at first level when I run them, but when the other dm runs (we switch off and on between campaigns sometimes) the game he generally starts at about 4th. TL: DR I like newbies, he likes a bit of seasoning. :)

    Your d20...an inny or outy?

To start, when playing D&D (any edition), I am 60/40 a player. Games outside of D&D, I am like 90/10 a GM. I generally prefer rolling behind the curtain as it keeps the flow of the game going. That and I do occasionally like messing with player's heads by rolling dice for no real reason. Roll a...

Which less popular classes should come back

For me, it would be the scout for the non magical ranger, mobile skirmisher archetype, the swordmage or the bladesinger for the arcane fighter archetype, and the shadowcaster, 3.5 binder, and truenamer just because the tome of magic was just too darn awesome. Especially the shadowcaster, I loved...

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

"See Buttercup, it was fine. And you were worried." Reianne covers her face with one hand to block some of the odor as they continue east.

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

Reianne pats her horse Buttercup on the nose gently, "It's ok girl, it's probably just some kind of um...big white bird...I'm sure it's fine." Reianne keeps a loose grip on the reins but keeps her left hand on the handle of her whip, just in case. She does her best to hide her nervousness as she...

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

Reianne sways unsteadily in her saddle, atop her troubled horse "Staying away from the cage sounds like a splendid idea, and if leading the horses on foot will help keep them safe, then I'm for it." Reianne scrunches up her face for a moment, "I don't know about the rest of you, but the thought...

    [LPF] Rescue at Boar's Ridge

Reianne laughs along with Ru, "You know, by weird bird people standards Mesem might be quite attractive. Maybe the horse is just shocked by beauty." As the shell disappears from Mesem, Reianne takes a moment to think before speaking, "I have to admit though, that is a fine trick. Guess I have...

Blog: Sneak Attack Vs. Backstab 3/28/12

Not sure honestly. I liked the 3rd/3.5/PF versions of Sneak Attack. (and while I'm at it, the rogue talents from Pathfinder) Backstab brings up bad bad memories of being really useless in 2e.
