Loss of Innate Spellcasting (or 'How Dragons Build Lairs')

That is correct. It is also likely that dragons can pick up caster levels if they want to, they just don't come with them by default. Tzarevitch

Loss of Innate Spellcasting (or 'How Dragons Build Lairs')

OMG this topic is still going? And it has spread to a new thread to boot. Well, I have nothing better to do at the moment. :D First of all that is a LOT of assumption that you will get that many archers ready to shoot WITH magic arrows without a good bit of advance warning. Only an idiot of a...

worlds and monsters is in my hands

Alarm is the one and only low level spell useful for defending a lair and even then it is hardly something a dragon couldn't do without. Physical alarms work just as well and can actually harder to find and disarm and a dragon can certainly put one in itself. They also do not require re-casting...

worlds and monsters is in my hands

Have you read the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings? Shelob ring a bell? Mirkwood spiders? Fantasy spiders have more precedent for trap setting that dragons do. You seem to think "magic" is good enough to get out of a fantasy spider's trap but not good enough to get out of a fantasy dragon's trap...

worlds and monsters is in my hands

Actually a spider's natural prey is anything it can catch and kill. They eat mice, birds, snakes etc. too. Sometimes ones larger than they are. Tzarevitch

worlds and monsters is in my hands

Which low-level spells are we talking about that can realistically be used to create a serious trap for a creature that would threaten a dragon? Before you seriously suggest Unseen Servant or Mage Hand I suggest you read the spell descriptions carefully. Tzarevitch

worlds and monsters is in my hands

Uh . . . they shape their lairs the same way lair creatures do in the real world, or they do what dragons in fantasy do, take it from someone else. Note also that typical dragons NEVER had the level of magic needed to magically shape a wonderous fantasy lair the way modules and DMs had them...

    D&D 4E 1/2 Orcs in 4E (Rich Baker scoop)

That is where a lot of Dragonlance half-elves came from. Dark Sun half elves tended to be the other way around. Tzarevitch

D&D 4E When is 4e Eberron due out?

Foulspawn I believe is the rename for aberrations. I just hope WotC has enough sense to put something out on line or something for people who already are Eberron players so we all don't go out and play WoW or something for a year until Eberron 4e comes out. Significant changes to the nature of...

    D&D 4E Flying in 4e

Honestly, they need to get rid of that featherfall effect if fly is dispelled or ends. That'll keep it from getting abused. Also fix the falling damage rules so that a fall from 500' is somthing someone would care about. Lastly, get rid of Overland Flight. Tzarevitch

D&D 4E When is 4e Eberron due out?

That was pretty much my guess as well. Warforged will appear, shifters will likely appear. Changelings and kalashtar are unlikely. Not sure what they'd do with the Artificerclass though. An interesting issue is changes to the magic item creation rules in 4e may render the class obsolete or turn...

D&D 4E When is 4e Eberron due out?

Just a quick question. I apologize in advance if it has been answered already but I can't find it anywhere on WotC's pages or on the 4e info on this site. Does anyone know when 4e Eberron is due out? ( am guessing end of '08 at best.) Also, does WotC plan on putting out a supplement either as...

    Dragonborn/Tiefling- which campaign setting?

Um, I beg to differ about Dark Sun and Ravenloft. In Dark Sun, Dragonborn = Dray. Tieflings could be made to fit without too much difficulty but one could just as soon leave them out of DS completely and never feel the loss. Tieflings DO fit in Ravenloft quite well. There are more than a few...

    The Forge of War

Yes, but not in great detail as a separate topic. It tends to mention advances in the context of the battle in which they appeared (usually anyway). Occasionally they show up elsewhere in the book. There is however a section on the warforged. Tzarevitch

    The Forge of War

I didn't see anything mentioned on how it happened, only that it was seen from very far away when it happened. Tzarevitch

Nary a prestige class nor a feat as far as I have seen. Tzarevitch

    The Forge of War

Not all that much there and you have to find it in the historical passages though. There isn't a dedicated section on old Cyre but you can find a decent bit about old Cyre from carefully reading through the book. Tzarevitch

    The Forge of War

I haven't checked the Eberron forums out recently but I can't imagine what they'd be complaining about. I loved Secrets of Sarlona and this one surpasses that one and I don't heap compliments lightly. There are a few Eberron books that weren't all that good but this one wasn't one of them...

    The Forge of War

Surprisingly the info is very detailed. Units are broken down by squads. It lists the composition of light, and medium infantry as well as light and heavy cavalry for most nations as well as mercenary companies. Some list exotic units like Aundair's magical air cavalry (mages with fly spells or...
