Relics & Rituals: Excalibur -- Any thoughts?

I flipped through this at my FLGS. Overall, I thought it looked interesting, I did have one major gripe: No NPC stats, period. I realize it's a 'Relics and Rituals' book, but still...how can you have an Arthurian book with no Arthur? or Merlin? or anyone else?

DM's What won't your players do?

There is very little my players will not do, with one exception: Trust an NPC. I guess it's my fault, really, I've had NPCs betray them so many times they've come to sort of expect it.

What's your least favorite 3.5 class?

My thoughts exactly. Anyway, I chose Bard, simply because that is the class I have the least interest in playing, or having someone in my game play.

    D&D PLAYERS - PLEASE HELP

What I sent, more or less: Your actual name, age and location ie New York, LA etc Josh Gillis, 28, Indianapolis Indiana USA What is the appeal of playing D&D? It is a social game, much like any board-game, but it is very open-ended and is designed to allow a game to continue indefinatly...

Why Wizards are better than Sorcerers, and other stories

In all seriousness, I'd have to say, as a player I prefer the monk to just about any class, he's just so much fun and can take many different roles in the party: diplomat, scout, flanker, he can even tank for a short time. My first 3.X PC was a monk and that's what I play when I get the chance.

Why Wizards are better than Sorcerers, and other stories

pd, you're my new best friend... and just in time too, my old one is turning all black and crispy and falling apart. :(

Why Wizards are better than Sorcerers, and other stories

Ninjas are flammable Pirates are flammable Monks who make silly promises are flammable Gnome illusionists are flammable Rogues are flammable Munchkins are flammable Core classes are flammable Insane Fire-Mages are flammable - (but this is a benefit in their case) Almost everything is flammable...

Why Wizards are better than Sorcerers, and other stories

Insane Fire-Mages are the true masters. Let me tell you why: Fire is soooo pretty Fire burns things Fire spells are the ultimate expression and manipulation of fire Only mages cast spells A Fire-Mage is really good at casting fire spells As you can see I have definitively proved that Insane...

Torture in a magical world (Rated R)

Defiantly worth it IMO. A couple of real world tortures: The Iron Boat A large metal device, roughly shaped like a boat, fits around the torso of the victim, it's weight keeps the victim immobile. The poor sap is taken out to a field or garden and left. Now for a little twist, the victim is...

Torture in a magical world (Rated R)

Book of Vile Darkness has lots of ideas for stuff like this... One of the more horrific fantasy-world torture ideas actually relies on magical healing... The victim is given a ring of regeneration, and then tortured to the point of death. The ring heals them back to full and the process starts...

    Complete Divine Excerpts

Uhh, Role-play? :) One thing I like about some of these feats is that they give non-clerics benifits for chosing a deity to worship...

How many combat encounters per session?

Anywhere from one to as many as four or five, although the average is probably 2. Last session was one long combat, 5 8th level PCs Vs. roughly 50 orcs...

Do DM's ever go on strike?

Just a guess, but your under 25 and aren't married, right? ;) I'm lucky to be able to game once every week.

How to get to 50th level?

As has been stated, after about level 25; HD advancement, templates, monsters from the epic book and combinations thereof become a DM's best friends. I found that if I was willing to put in the extra effort needed, epic sessions were just as fun and challenging for all involved as lower level...

My daughter is named after my wife's first PC!

Two things, 1) Barf 2) The base name for Bart is Bartholomew(sp?)...lord help you if your sixth grade class finds that out. :D I, too, would generally stay away from giving my child a first name that was too fantasy inspired, although middle names are fair game, if I could get my...

Do DM's ever go on strike?

I don't know about 'going on strike' exactly, I have said "Look, I've been running for more than a year straight, when this campaign is over, one of you is taking over so I can PLAY!" It didn't work though, so I have relegated myself to being the DM for the rest of my life. ;)

How do you play YOUR monsters?

Drunkmoogle, while I haven't thought it out or codified it as you have, I basically play monsters/NPC/whatever much the same as you, taking wisdom (intuition/instinct) into account as well. I have the opposite problem, I have to be good, most of my players have been playing D&D, other RPGs and...

My daughter is named after my wife's first PC!

I once played a cleric named Isaac, which was right around the time my brother, Isaac was born. I can't remember if I named the character after him, or if I knew that it was one of the names my mother and step-father were considering...

Exactly. Succinctly and correctly put, I couldn't improve on that sentiment so I won't try.

    Tarrasque or not Tarrasque?

I want to thank everyone who replied for, well...replying. To those of you who are firmly of the opinion that T is a boring stat block with a bad picture - I'm afraid I must respectfully disagree with you. I think a monster (or anything else in this game) is as interesting as the DM makes him...
