    Advice for a Kobold.

Ninja is better than Rogue, as a base class- it has a lot more options to stay relevant as the levels go on, with its Ki powers (and as a bonus, it can pick up Rogue Talents as Ninja Tricks). Ninja has less Archetypes to pick from, but most Rogue Archetypes aren't all that impressive anyway...

    Pathfinder 1E Disarm question

Incorrect. "If your attack is successful, your target drops one item it is carrying of your choice (even if the item is wielded with two hands)." The +10 thing is for two-weapon wielders, basically- if it's carrying an item in each hand, then by beating its CMD by 10 you can force it to drop both.

Pathfinder 1E Sorcerer/Oracle/Mythic Theurge? Anyone tried it?

Not true, actually. Reread the text for the class feature. It says "An Oracle's Curse is based on her Oracle level plus one for every two levels or Hit Dice other than Oracle." [boldface mine]. A lot of people miss that, but it's a commonly-used trick to take 1 level of Oracle with the Lame...

    Building a Summoner

Thank you. Certainly, I never actually used the idea (so far), so I can't say for certain how well it works (or doesn't). I will note, though, that the whole idea of using the Eidolon as a book was that the Eidolon gets skill bonuses only to Knowledge skills, and also you'd pull some...

    Building a Summoner

Shidaku will have to answer that question himself, but I'll chime in to note that there is the Master Summoner Archetype. It can not only use the Summon SLA along with the Eidolon, but also gets extra uses of the SLA and Augment Summoning as a bonus feat; however, it also limits the power of the...

Pathfinder 1E So far not impressed with Pathfinder

In that game I mentioned which has the Urban Ranger, we have several casters in the party- including two spontaneous casters. Both of them have Dispel, and use it frequently- in fact I can't remember a session in the last three months that didn't see at least one Dispel cast by a party member...

Pathfinder 1E So far not impressed with Pathfinder

I'm in a game now with an Urban Ranger (i.e. the Archetype, not the base class from Core) and he's the party "Rogue." Does a pretty good job- the few locks he hasn't been able to pick, we've bypassed with spells or just bashed open with weapons. It's very rare that he misses a trap, and he's...

Pathfinder 1E Is there any reason to be cured of lycanthropy?

That's all irrelevant to the OP's question, as is every other argument given by others above along these lines. Time to delurk and chime in. The question was "By the RAW, is there any reason to be cured?" And as it happens, the correct answer is pretty clearly "no." Any reference to outside...

    Pathfinder 1E Help with EL

1st-level Warriors should be pushovers for most PCs of 5th level, if they're remotely geared/optimized towards combat. A 5th level Human Fighter with Whirlwind Attack could probably solo all 8 without taking much (if any) damage. A 5th-level Wizard with Fireball could annihilate all 8 with one...

Pathfinder 1E New DM Needs Help

Planning can only go so far- don't plan scenes like a movie, plan possibilities (like, say, "if the PCs don't fix the fire-swamp problem by March, then Count Rogan wins in the court and the war with Gelder will start."). And plan NPC character traits, so that you have an appropriate response...

Pathfinder 1E Questions about the Oracle

Those spells are fine if your GM allows them, ultimately; the GM is always right. :) I myself don't use d20pfsrd as a primary source; I always go to the books before anything else. And the next time I run a game, I have a specific list of books I'll be allowing, and nothing from outside those...

Pathfinder 1E Questions about the Oracle

Dude, OP's an Oracle, not a Sorcerer. Sorcerers have Bloodlines, Oracles have Mysteries. The Efreeti thing is a race ability from the Advanced Races Guide that lets the character use Enlarge Person or Reduce Person once/day. The character's got the Flame Mystery and appears to be a 3rd-level...

Pathfinder 1E Questions about the Oracle

Tell us what you have considered and we'll tell you what you've overlooked. ;) What Mystery does this Oracle have? What spells does he or she already know? What feats are already there?

Pathfinder 1E Question: Can a Bard cast a spell while maintaining a bardic performance?

Certainly you can cast while maintaining a Performance. It's not even necessary to make a roll; you're making things too restrictive for the character by requiring that. As Sorenson noted, maintaining a Performance is a free action, so it costs the Bard nothing to do it (aside from spending...

    Pathfinder 1E Hints welcome

Big change in skills: no more HD+3 limit (skill ranks are limited to a number equal to character level/HD) and more importantly, no more half-ranks. Spending on cross-class skills gives you a full rank just like spending on class skills does. The only difference between them now is, class...

    paradox42's crazy cosmology

Holy thread necromancy, Batman! People still read this? (Reminds me- I really need to download these posts and save them locally in case another ENWorld crash happens.) I came up with the Great Red Fleet idea years before I even ran my 2nd Edition college game, actually, so it long...

Pathfinder 1E Rules Question: Pathfinder diviner wizard asleep during an ambush

It sort of depends on how you see the ability actually working, in "the real world" (by which I mean, the reality that the PCs exist within and that all these game rules attempt to simulate). Apparently it's some sort of precognition; even the name of the ability tells you that much. But where...

Pathfinder 1E Does Detect Thoughts break Invisibility? When?

My point is that the result doesn't matter. Only the caster's perceptions at casting time matter. Casting time is when the action is taken; therefore, only at casting time can the action be labelled an "attack." If the Paladin uses Detect Evil and pings a critter that he didn't know in advance...

Pathfinder 1E Does Detect Thoughts break Invisibility? When?

And at casting time, he didn't know. Therefore, it was not an attack when initiated, and Invisibility is not removed.

Pathfinder 1E Does Detect Thoughts break Invisibility? When?

The people who responded to my post by saying intent doesn't matter misunderstood what I meant, I think. Or perhaps just didn't think it through. As pemerton posted, the Invisibility spell itself states that the caster's perceptions are a determining factor in exactly what constitutes a "foe."...
