I am just reading through the Manual of The Planes in work and I have come to the conclusion it is one of the best books available for D&D 3rd edition. Anyone agree?

I wanted to have the players happen upon a group of abyssal rats but I thought it might be unfair for me to just target specifically the good guys when there would be no way for the rats to know.

I was looking through the fiendish template in the MM and I came to wonder how a creature would use its smite good ability if it has no ability to determine if the attacker is good. How do you lot deal with this?

Thanks for the game Andrew, it was a great little dungeon from what I could see. You nearly succeeded in killing Subus the Barbarian but he escaped (just!!!) with more than a few painful wounds. Simons dungeon was excellent also, although slightly spoiled by the overwhelming amount of players...
