Journeyman PC Class (formerly Expert PC Class)

Sorry 'bout that... try it now. If there still are problems, let me know... also what browser and OS are you using? Thanks. P.S. The updated page should have a tan background rather than white.

    Perception and Stealth

It does slightly unbalance the game. Its possible to gain the same number of ranks in Stealthy faster than it is if you have to take the Hide and Move Silently skills seperately. This plays into the hands of the Ranger, rather than of the Rogue. But the big question is, why? Most house rules...

Journeyman PC Class (formerly Expert PC Class)

Updated the class slightly to fix a few things.

    Steel Batallian

As for wheels, yes to some extent.. I was referring to the more "exotic" stuff that most race and flight sim fans use as opposed to the stuff you buy off the shelf at Best Buy. As for gamepads, I'm not sure how you can say that. My current gamepad works just as well, or better, than the PS2...

[D20 Modern] Snipers should shoot standing?

Yeah, thats goofy... I'd say that just about any ranged weapon, unless otherwise specified in its description [a good way of putting oddball rules in :/], would get a +2 attack bonus of the character is in the prone FIRING position. If they are just sprawled prone due to a trip or such, then...

House rule to Replace the flat DC15 for massive damage

Mine too likes it heroic. But isn't that pretty much negating the ability for the higher leve PC's to get that heroic hit on a demon or dragon that takes the monster down? Seems to me, that it causes the PCs more problems than it does the monsters, when it should be the other way around for...

    Steel Batallian

Well, give an explanation why thats the case. I'm interested in knowing as it sounds like a really good 'mech game. Yes, I suppose... but to me it'd only have been a flame if I'd said "CONSOLES SUCK AND ARE STUPID". Course I didn't say that, just expressed me opinion concerning my thoughts...

House rule to Replace the flat DC15 for massive damage

Yes, to even get the MDT you need to do 160 hp of damage. So a maximized empowered fireball only does 90 points of damage... which means the chances of doing 160hp of damage in one blow is going to be very small. We use the Death from Massive Damage Based on Size (MDToS) variant instead except...

Classless Character System for d20 Modern

Why convert the talents to feats? Especially if you keep levels, why not just allow characters to choose the different talent trees they want to take and progress through them?

    Steel Batallian

Yes, its off the topic and point. The point was I was/am unhappy that its an exclusive Xbox title if what Tyr was saying about its true. I have a better PC than what the Xbox [or any other console is], so I really would prefer such an excellent game on my platform of choice. This is...

    Steel Batallian

Damn, too bad its a freakin' console game. :( My PC eats consoles for lunch [it especially likes PS2s and Nintendos] and the only game so far I wish I had for it is DOA3 and maybe SB if its as good as you say it is [can't stand the latest MechWarrior series... MW1 or MW2 are so much better].

    Feat: Knack for Magic

Interesting, but perhaps use the built-in mechanic already. Have the feat give the character the ability to use the exclusive skill Use Magic Device with maybe say a +2 bonus. That way Rogues can also benefit from it.

House rule to Replace the flat DC15 for massive damage

Yeah, thats true. For spells it would probably be the first damage dice only. So even a Max. Fireball would generate a DC save of 21 [15+6]. I should note to go along with that, the PCs and NPCs don't automatically die, rather they get set to -1 hp. Monsters do die [note, the more...

House rule to Replace the flat DC15 for massive damage

Plane Sailing, Nope was talking about the MDT too. Since most of the damage caused to get to 50+ [or racial max.] is normally bonuses due to magic, strength, etc. instead of trying to find a good formula that worked, we've basically decided to go to with the DC of 15 (although think we may go...

Considering changing the way skills are done

Re: Re: Considering changing the way skills are done Yes as he says... so flip it around and go the other way. Cross-class skills have the same max. as class skills, but cost 2 skill points as normal. I use this house rule and have zero problems with it simple because most classes don't...

    Improving the Expert?

Try my Journeyman class that was posted in this forum. At very laest you can use it to map out an expert class thats balanced and go from there.

    D&D-based videogames

It doesn't, but thats been the I guess stated intepretation of WotC concerning it. There is/was talk about the OGL'd alogrithms and data used to express the SRD needing to be modifable by the end-user without recompile the program, etc... not really sure the end-scoop on that. Probably best to...

House rule to Replace the flat DC15 for massive damage

We've yet to implement it, but we're thinking of using a DC=15 + damage done via the dice roll, i.e a barbarian wielding a greataxe would have a DC ranging from 16 to 27.

    Greetings all.

Yeah, works fine within the context of D&D! I don't feel I'm playing a different game than I was back in '82. Bottomline, if you have mechanics that work well for your game, don't switch just to jump into the mass-hysteria of marketing surrounding "d20". Not all games need to have the same...

    [Completly OT] Xbox or PS2?

And that PCs will always be more technically superior.. so buy a PC. ;) That is unless of course you like fighting games, such as DOA, then get a console too!
