    D&D 5E (2014) Land's Stride and difficult terrain

Lands Stride is both no magical difficult terrain and plants, among other things. I agree that it should include magical as well, but then maybe at a higher level. Some class or subclass features give an ability which is improved at a higher level. Maybe do that with Lands Stride. Just shooting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Land's Stride and difficult terrain

Thank you for the “Wall of Stone” spell example. I was looking at it as if magical, it would state “magical” in the spell description. It’s actually reversed in this case.

    D&D 5E (2014) Land's Stride and difficult terrain

Land's stride permits your movement to not be slowed when you encounter nonmagical difficult terrain and nonmagical plant. So what is considered magical difficult terrain? Some have told me if it is created by a spell, its magical. However, in the spell descriptions like Ice Storm, Sleet Storm...

D&D 5E (2014) How do you determine your initial Attributes?

We use our own version of "standard" array: 17, 16, 15, 14, 12, 10. No feats at 1st to increase stats, unless coupled with some other benefits. Makes players feel better with understanding that stats of opponents will also be bumped up as well, but no one cares as its the pleasure that a...

D&D 5E (2014) What is your least favorite class in 5E?

What? Yes they did. Natural Explorer with the the skills, tracking, leading your party through wilderness. Favored Enemy allows you to get advantage on tracking and knowledge about your prey. And last time I checked, beasts are included in the description of wildlife, and beasts are included in...

D&D 5E (2014) What is your least favorite class in 5E?

Actually WoTC tried it in 5th but fell flat on their face with extreme poor execution

D&D 5E (2014) What is your least favorite class in 5E?

Ranger themed to me implies exploration and using skills to overcome nature’s dangers and obstacles, pursuing and tracking down your prey.

D&D 5E (2014) What is your least favorite class in 5E?

Did not say you can’t have subclass. What I said was the subclass is combat oriented.

D&D 5E (2014) What is your least favorite class in 5E?

Ranger subclasses are mainly focused on combat, not "rangerish" abilities. And my point is that the Rogue Scout is the best ranger. I personally don't see magic as being crucial to being a ranger and their skill set as we discussed earlier, that is why I excluded that feature. It is offered to...

D&D 5E (2014) What is your least favorite class in 5E?

A Ranger is a hunter. A ranger is supposed to be the person to turn to help guide through the wilderness and survive. Its embarrassing when the party asks the ranger to lead them and they say "Sorry, wrong terrain. Maybe next time." Where are these skills? You can say the same for the Ranger...

D&D 5E (2014) What is your least favorite class in 5E?

It has been done. Rogue Scout. And with the skills, expertise (able to use in all terrains), abilities, and tools (need thieves tools for bear traps as per XGtE), its the perfect spell-less Ranger except it has no extra attack.

D&D 5E (2014) Houseruled: Feats, Rolled Stats, MCing Pick One

Who really cares about high stats. If it makes the players happy and the game more enjoyable. The players just have to realize the creatures are going to get a bump in stats as well. ..damage out put increases, more hp, etc.. easy to deal with

D&D 5E (2014) Feats at first level (i.e. generalising Theros' idea)

    D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on 2 spell-less Ranger versions.

I disagree that the rogue "owns" expertise. The Bard gets it twice and Knowledge Cleric has it and the PHB Ranger has expertise, though limited to favored terrains. In comparison, the Scout Rogue stepped on the rangers toes when they were given the survival and nature skills and then expertise...
