    D&D 3.x Problems with 3.5 I don't wanna see in 4th

I houseruled the golf club problem away with alchemical weapon oils that acted as the substance (silver, cold iron, adamantine, etc.) for 10 rounds or 10 swings, which ever comes first. 1 use, and over 250g/vial was enough to balance it out at higher levels, especially for high BAB classes.

Love the Game, Hate the Marketing

Exactly. WotC has been talking about the 1st public demos of 4e being played at D&DXP, that will be where the rubber meets the road, as they say.

    Campaign Length

Yeah, the average length was for discussion purposes (one long game may be an exception to the rule, but I might have chosen poorly with the poll... :\ ), and also because I didn't think that I could include two polls, sorry about any confusion.

Andy Collin's comments re censoring playtester reviews

This. Also, if Playtester X drops a laundry list of complaints on a forum, all it will do is cause 'net drama, because that tester may very well (like Andy said) be working off of older material which has already been fixed. Besides, the whole idea of beta testing (and this is true of the...

    Campaign Length

I've seen posts on a few boards about people playing in, or running FR campaigns that have lasted (or are still being played after) 10, 15 or even 20 years. Now, I've been playing RP games for around 14-15 years, and only two of those have lasted for over a year of consistent play (a 2e DarkSun...

It Starts (Splatbooks - Martial Power in October)

I'm going to take a guess that the Monk will be in here. No, I don't have a shred of evidence, but I really want it to have the Monk

D&D 4E My compiled list of 4E's WoWisms

I haven't played a game where a healer critting against an enemy would innately heal the party, but a few games (WoW and CoH are the only ones I have experience with in this example) allow healers to crit-heal and ally under the same rules as crit-damage to foes, althought that doesn't seem to...

Petititon For Scott Rouse to Wear the Puffy Shirt

We need a piratical Rouse. Hat and Parrot are optional, though encouraged.

"Points of Light" setting--to be developed?

I could be wrong, but I distinctly remember someone (Rich Baker?) saying that "Points of Light" was going to remain a concept, and that what we get from them in regards to the "setting" is really just an example of names for different places/objects/events and so on. For example, the "default"...

FR Update at WotC-Year of the Ageless One

I'm more devastated by the arguments over how devastated the Realms are than the devastation itself :p

FR Update at WotC-Year of the Ageless One

Actually, about Thay, Richard Lee Byers has an excellent (IMO) trilogy in the works, beginning with Unclean. To sum it up, Tam creates conditions whereby he and a few Tharchions (provincial governors) are actively at war with the remaining Zulkirs (2 die, the Transmuter, who's replaced by a...

    FR Time Jump?

The 100 year jump is believed by some fans to be accurate, but WotC has yet to release any official info. They have some Realmslore articles slated for January, IIRC, so we may hopefully find out in a few weeks.

D&D 4E The 4e Mystery Race is going to be...

You got me :) No, I've never had the opportunity to play Eberron, as my group has a large percentage of big time Realms fans in it... Now that you mention it, though, it's an interesting, albeit icky, concept (j/k)

Forgotten Realms changes - The Orc King novel prelude's 'facts'

(Emphasis mine) I'll respectfully disagree with you here, as I happen to love having a heavily detailed world. Also, I spoke to Chris Perkins at Digital Life, and most of the changes will be happening in regions that the FR staff feels are under-utilized for campaigns. Most of those (Anauroch...

D&D 4E The 4e Mystery Race is going to be...

I'd prefer full-blood Orcs to Half-Orcs. If they're pushing the Orc towards being a standard PC race (The Orc King, set in FR starts doing exactly that), then I find it hard to see Half-Orcs around, as they tend to be a reminder that Orcs like to... well... let's just say that I've never heard...

    FR survivalism

Hey! That was me! :D Yes, Chris Perkins did say that hints could be gleaned from The Orc King, and I do get the feeling that they're pushing approximately 100 years after the Spellplague. This allows them to rebuild the pantheons, alter civilizations, establish borders, etc. and (I imagine)...

    A humble request...

Oh, definitely.... I'm actually quite hopeful that this will be a good, albeit, different version of the Realms. I'm more hoping that we can get some articles to stop the nigh-constant doomsaying that you see on the Wizards/Gleemax boards, but it's likely as not - now that I think on it - that...

    A humble request...

I'll be posting this in a few places, please forgive me if you see this in a few different forums... Since the announcement of 4th Edition, I've taken to reading and posting on forums that I had previously just lurked. After years of playing, reading about, and enjoying not only Forgotten...

    D&D 4E 4E wackiness escalation

That could be true, but I read it as "You won't be seeing massive power spikes, just gradual increases." Which is to say that your lv 30 characters will still be truly epic, but the move from 20 to 21 won't unleash a violent torrent of power and riches upon them, it'll be just like going from 19...
