    Immortals Handbook - Godsend

Yeah, but the description says it's got 8 pseudopods. That sounds more ooze-like to me, eh? *shrug* I kind of like the idea of a sentient god-like ooze; have you ever read Dean Koontz' Phantoms? Really cool book, one of my favorites, and scary as hell.

    Dragon Skills

That's cool. Do they still have the Dragon type, though? What would distinguish a "true" dragon from any other Dragon creature? Doesn't PF roll all of those into Perception? Interesting, but with the cut-down skill list PF has, you're going to have a hard time coming up with that many skills...

    Immortals Handbook - Godsend

Thanks. D20srd.org has pics for some of the epic beasties; that gallery has some of the pics, but not all of them. It says that you can view "over four dozen new monsters!" but I only see 27 there. :/ Edit: Never mind - a Google search turned up another site that has 135 pics from the ELH...

    Immortals Handbook - Godsend

Hmm... it could go either way. They have oozelike traits, and they resemble a large ooze... elementals generally have a semi-humanoid form (head and two arms). I agree. There's a pic on d20srd.org, so that's why I wanted to know how big the ELH said they really were. While I'm here, how big...

3E to 4E Gripes (Was: What Did You Want Fourth Edition to be Like?)

Hmm... would I have complained? Probably not. I was looking forward to 3.5; in fact, I hiked a mile down the road to the local bookstore (and back) to buy the books when they came in. If 4E had been an even better version of 3.5, with cleaned-up rules, new material, a workable high-level system...

    Immortals Handbook - Godsend

A bit off-topic, but a question (or three): UK, what do you recommend for an insight bonus to AC? I was thinking either Wis score or Wis bonus. And, for anyone who has the ELH... I'm revising the monsters, but I don't know how big a xixecal is. And... what does a phaethon look like? From the...

Looking for D&D 3.x elemental related base/prestiege classes

Just wondering: Why are you looking for all this? It might help folks be more specific. As for my input... I have the Elementalist PrC (spellcasters who can control the elements).

    Character Generation, random or not?

The method I see most commonly (at least, in the groups I've played in) was 4d6, reroll 1s, drop the low die, and arrange as desired. Course, it doesn't always guarantee good scores - when I started with my current group, my highest score was 12. The DM let me reroll, and I ended up with much...

    Project Phoenix is live!

Umm... book form? Probably not. Publishing is a PITA, and I doubt many folks would be interested in something this large that's not 4E, especially since Paizo's got the 3.75 market pretty well locked up. Pdf? Maybe. Problem is, I don't have the ability to create pdfs on my own - I don't have...

    Weapon Groups Prerequisites

Check this out - it's Weapon Group feats from UA. A lot of them have prereqs; Weapon Group (Exotic) has a +1 BAB, for instance. I'd assign Str 13 to the Axes group (all but one are two-handed weapons).

    Project Phoenix is live!

They're a zip file you can find here (just click on the "Files" button at the bottom of the page). There were far too many to put them all on the site. Edit: Oh, wait, you mean the legendary spells? Working on that. They're done (been done, really), but I wanted to get v6 so I can properly...

    The Many Species of D&D

This is a really interesting topic, and a very apt analogy. I'd have to agree with Reynard in saying there are four main D&D genii (genuses?): Basic (OD&D, B/X, BECMI) Advanced (1E and 2E), d20 (3E), and d20 Advanced (4E). To draw another analogy: Basic is one of the earliest primate species...

    Project Phoenix is live!

Just thought I'd bump this. I've long since completed integrating epic rules into the core, and the system itself is done, for the most part - all I need to do is the monsters, and I'm waiting on UK's v6 for that. (On a side note, I've made a few improvements to the monk - their unarmed attack...

    Brainstorm 3.x Multiclassing

As glass said, multiclassing a spellcaster is like tying knots in a rope - each one makes it weaker. That's assuming (again, like glass said) that you group actually USES that stupid rule, which the majority don't. Mm. What about, for example, a Ftr 20/Wiz 20 vs. a Wiz 20/Ftr 20? Or even a Rog...

Forked Thread: Maximum lifting capacity for multiple lifters?

You have a very good point here. Just off the top of my head, I would say that the second person would have to make a separate check against the DC of the task, not DC 10. If THAT check succeeds, he grants the +2 bonus.

Maximum lifting capacity for multiple lifters?

Easy way: each extra person adds the standard +2. More complex way: If you want to model real-world physics, each extra person would reduce the weight of the item by 1/4 (present weight, not total). So, for instance, you're trying to haul a 200-pound comrade off the battlefield. You alone would...

    Immortals Handbook - Godsend

Last post on the subject, I promise. :) That's pretty much it, in a nutshell. 4E was designed for ease of play, and 3E is a "nuts and bolts" system for gearheads. 2E was bad about that - there was a rule for everything, but very few of them were balanced with each other OR the core. 3E...

    Custom divine abilities, portfolios, etc.

Yeah, you can find it here It's 3.0 format, though, and it has only arcane spells (we had too many total spells, so our publisher made us split them into arcane and divine; Divine Strife was intended to be next, but was never released). I'll do you one better: here's a copy of Mystic Strife, the...

    Immortals Handbook - Godsend

I'll take a stab at it. I don't think it's a fear of change so much as a bad initial impression (and, for many people who actually tried the game, a continuing bad impression). For my part, I was turned off by the seeming wargame/Skills and Powers aspects of 4E. A lot of people have said pretty...

    Custom divine abilities, portfolios, etc.

Hmm... that looks a lot like a spell that appeared in Arcane Strife (a book I co-wrote) a few years back: The undead warrior is a template, a good bit more powerful than a skeleton. This spell is (obviously) a bit overpowered, but I didn't come up with it. :p Really? I thought the GSL...
