    running a sandbox game: tips?

    1) Don't overwhelm your group with information: it is better to construct a sandbox like a network where there are three or four options to each junction than as a many-spoked hub where the players may do "anything" but end up doing nothing because they spend their time considering options...

    Fight On! Magazine

Hey hey hey, thanks for the vote of confidence. I really like the idea of Fight on!, and intend to write more for future issues. The current contrib. is a small sub-level from my Khosura megadungeon. My group really liked it. Especially a certain "Fanaure". :)

It looks like, how should I say, one of those advantageous coincidences.

Pathfinder 1E Me Oh, My Oh! A Pathfinder Forum!

Cool stuff, Erik. Between Planet Stories and this, Paizo has grown a lot in my eyes, and if this place is a ghetto, it should be a friendly and comfortable one. :D If it is all right with you, would you talk about PF's strategy regarding your 3rd party publishers? Do you see Pathfinder...

    Your Bet on Licensing

No, I don't really think that is the case... it wouldn't be too productive, even in such a large community, and I doubt WotC is subtle or even malicious enough to pull it off. When their marketing does guerilla marketing, it is that video with the French guy. :D It is, I think, some sort of...

    Your Bet on Licensing

My expectation (not prediction) is that 4e will be extremely closed, with a window dressing license so WotC can say, "look, it is out there". It is probably not going to be a perpetual license, and after a few years, I expect it will be substituted with some sort of contractual 3rd party...

    Dungeon recommendations. . .

[SPOILERS] Deadly Treasure from Dungeon Magazine #41 is an excellent trap-heavy tomb I have run three times, always to the satisfaction of the group (one completed it, one retreated halfway, one perished). The premise is that A high level wizard decided to forego lichdom and instead open his...

Clark: hear! Hear! The question of the GSL should be more of a front page issue than tucked away in an obscure subsection.

Request: Keep GSL-related discussions here / merged with Should OGL subjects that...

Discussion of the OGL, the GSL and its effects on the hobby should preferably be allowed in the General forums, since they impact a significant portion of the site's users. The OGF-L forums were initially for technical questions, but right now, we have wider questions to discuss.

WOTC undecided over OGL/GSL. Why you should care

Moreover, what exactly is wrong with "pushing the agenda" of open gaming, something which strongly influenced the last eight years of the hobby? It is more important than the narrowly technical focus of this sub-forum.

WOTC undecided over OGL/GSL. Why you should care

Umbran: I would normall agree with you, and you are technically right, but this thread might be of wider general interest than what usually passes here. Very few people read OGF-L regularly (I certainly wouldn't have come here if I weren't linked to it from the Necro messageboards), but this may...

    Wilderlands - box set and/or player's guide?

A reprint is out of the question. However, you may find the book on eBay with a bit of patience. It should certainly be cheaper than $60.

    Wilderlands - box set and/or player's guide?

Correct; I think neither are deities, information on magical tomes, etc. But it is still viable to run a campaign based on the box alone, and substituting your own gods, using standard classes, etc.

    Wilderlands - box set and/or player's guide?

You are correct. The player's guide is adequate - and may actually be preferable - for running a "standard" campaign in the setting. What the boxed set offers is the hexcrawl experience; the fun of dropping the party in a location, saying "Do what you will." and watching the consequences.

    Building a Sandbox

I don't see why that is a problem. "There is the sound of great horns as several orcs appear on the cliffs, from behind boulders, and more emerge from crevices you never suspected were there. Even a swift look tells you they must number more than 150, and that you are completely surrounded with...
