    Infinite Paper

Aye, sign me up. Don't get me wrong I'll probably use the default system for 4th at first... but once you've been given a taste of ultimate spell creation... it's hard to go back :). William Holder

What Should Be Done With Psionics?

Swap Essence = Arcane with Essence = Nature... now Arcane is Arcane according to Rolemaster. :) It could work ;), William Holder

What Should Be Done With Psionics?

No, what I was saying is they are all Wizards... similar to how a Wizard is in 3.5. The names I attached to the end ( my own speculation by reading into the post... probably reading too deep into the post and totally off base ) was to illustrate that under a Wizard heading they could have...

What Should Be Done With Psionics?

It appears they are starting to move in this direction... Wizards will be known as... Tome user = Binder / Summoner = Warlock Wand user = Various Offensive / Limited Defensive = Sorcerer Staff user = Range Support / Greater Defensive = Priest Orb user = Mental Influence / Utility = Psion...

    New Design article: Elves

On another note... someone mentioned this before... but I sincerely hope that creature types do get reworked... Outsider is the only category based on where you live/ where you are born rather than what you are. I think there is a lot of room for improvement on that front. William Holder

    New Design article: Elves

What I got out of the article mentioned above... The Eladrin killed the Grey Elves and High Elves and took their stuff... therefore losing their extraplanar sub-type and celestial connections. Looks like 4th edition is cleaning house... and every race, subrace and planar origin will be looked...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

My personal feelings for 4th Edition aside... I would release as a 3.5 product and wait and see if WotC schedules a 4th Edition Epic Handbook... if so wait for that to update date your material to 4th... in short I'd take a wait and see approach. :) Hope this helps, William Holder

    D&D 4E 4E - What Rules Need Staying?

This is an idea I can get behind... though I may be bias due to running a generic game right now... and so far it's been great. Everyone still has a defined role... though it's defined by the character not the class... a character can naturally move from one role to the next without huge...

    D&D 4E 4E - What Rules Need Fixing?

Turning... Counterspelling... Grappling... yeah I'd say those would be the top three. Just as a personal preference... I'd like it if Level = HD = CR... if a Creature is powerful enough to warrant a CR 5 then it should have the racial HD of 5... likewise level adjustment should just go away...

How to make D&D games run faster?

Interesting thoughts there... if you are looking a way to do the magic I'd recommend Elements of Magic. It's modular spell creation... you define area / range, duration and effect. It's a very excellent system! you can find a link to it on my bookshelf. :) Hope this helps, William Holder

    Generic Classes Redux

Good points all... this line really stands out because it sums up our group succinctly. I'm not familiar with True20. Do you have a link handy? Thanks so much for your time, William Holder

Jumping on the HPHS (Hit point House Rule) bandwagon

Interesting... though I have to ask, if a hit is dodged was it really a hit... more importantly wouldn't that fall under AC? Hits being soaked is what HP measures now. Higher the level more they can soak. The way I had HP explained to me, and I have in turn explained to players, is HP =...

    Alternate Totems for Dragon Shaman

Think Electric Eel... odd but true. Back on point, I'm liking the totems so far. Keep 'em coming. William Holder

The Tome of Time (A second book of magic)

One could argue that the present does not exist in the minds of a Chrono-Mage... past has been recorded... future has been determined and will soon become the past... there is no present. Very good stuff... have you thought of putting a book out? William Holder

    Generic Classes Redux

IMHO, skills should be used to make a more rounded character... one which can have real growth and interest beyond the combat style in which they specialize... that is the core problem with Expert... they do not specialize in combat only in more skills. Combat =/= Skills, therefore add more...

D&D: High Fantasy vs. Sword & Sorcery

I would like to to say High Fantasy... though I feel Birthright captures the scope better than standard D&D so I'm going with Sword & Sorcery... the intrigue level depends greatly on the group though. William Holder

    D&D Brand Manager of Fluff

It's hard to pitch an idea about what would be a good Fluff book without knowing what most DM's want. As a DM the most important Fluff product I picked up this year was Dragon's Monster Ecologies. It is easy to use in any game and gave each monster a very unique feel beyond just the stats on...

    Generic Classes Redux

Sounds cool... there are feats in place for more skills and the fact there are no cross-classed skills I think if you wanted to play a skill monkey rather than a detected Warrior or Caster it would be easy enough to accomplish. Don't get me wrong we love skills and use skill checks in almost...
